Not bad, as long as your aren't hanging the ceiling.

Crap. We have to do part of the ceiling. FIL had an overflow in the second floor bathroom. Have to replace ceiling and at least one wall. Not sure what the damage is in the basement.

Do I need to sand it or anything?

It really isn't all that terrible. If doing the ceiling, going rent a small set of scaffolding will make the job much easier.

It was one of the things I left to the experts when I built my house.

It's not hard doing the hanging. Floating is the hard part. Just some simple measuring and hammering.

Ok. My FIL is a pro at it, but he is a little long in the tooth and pulled his back. I have absolutely no clue on what to do.

Then you'll likely be his extra set of hands. Shouldn't be bad, especially if you're doing a partial ceiling and one wall

Yeah, pretty easy for the most part. You may even be able to get someone to just come in and tape/mud for cheap. Hang the drywall yourselves, and then outsource the dirty part.

Hanging is easy except for cutting our for outlets and any obstructions. Full sheets? Piece of cake.

I can't stand floating and sanding though. It's like laying tile. You get everything laid down but still have a shite ton of work to do. Sucks.

I don't think anyone has driven a nail through sheetrock in 20+ years.

Most hanging crews nail it and then send a laborer around after to put the screw in. Just FYI.

Hanging sheetrock is easy. Floating it is where skill is needed.

It is a pain in the arse.. The following happened to me. Fortunately it was a small area and located in a bedroom closet.

You may have done this already.. But if not, you need to make sure you don't have any mold anywhere before installing the Sheetrock.

not that hard i just finished up the sheetrock work in my new addition. It is heavy but the initial installation isn't bad it is the taping, mudding, sanding and texture work that is tedious and a dirty mess. I would also suggest that you lay out a grid on the gypsum boards before you hang them in place it make screwing them to the wall quicker. I was installing over solid plywood sheeting so it went pretty quick.

Do yourself and your back a favor and go rent a Sheetrock jack from Home Depot. I couldn't have done my ceiling without it. It's not terrible, just a pain in the neck.
They make a drill that coutersinks the screws just right or they sell an attachment for standard cordless drills. Buy a few cases of beer and call some buddies over for a few beers.... LOL
