How much money do you keep on hand or checking based on age

Just out of curiosity. I'd say I try to keep at least $100 in cash on hand at any given time until next payday then re-up again. Depending if i still have $100 or not.
Try not to let my checking account get below a certain amount. Sometimes might come close and break the bank when it comes to going out or eating. But within that it also includes bills (rent, car note, cable, etc).
In my early 30's. Trying to save and all that but im curious if any OTers have financial expectancy at a certain age as far as money on hand and money ready in your daily checking.

This is the OT.
We keep 10k in the front pocket and a back up 10k in the wallet next to the black Amex. All of the houses and both boats are paid off. 2 mil sits in the emergency savings account and the upstairs safe value is undisclosed.
ETA: My goldfish has 100 dollar bills floating in his tank.

I keep no cash on hand generally or it's hidden in my closet. My kids rape my wallet if any cash is there, but none of them have ever done it!

Reading that gave me a headache.

I'm mid 20's and I keep no more than $500 in my checking at any time.
Way easier to limit spending and save that way.

I like to have about three to four thousand. Everything else goes to investments. I put some aside in a high yield savings if I need something extra

Suppose your transmission or head gasket blew up? Do you have enough to cover the job? Not a bad goal for young people.

I have 1 checking account that has 230 bucks go in to it every payday (weekly). This is what i try to live on. I have another checking account that all my bills are autopaid from...its enough to cover them plus 20 bucks a week so it does increase slowly. I have a savings account that 30 bucks a week goes in to. It's for buying a boat when I graduate. I then have another regular savings account that the rest goes in to.
Edit: i'm 28

30s
Minimal cash on hand
Minimal cash in checking
Utilize sweep accounts as needed because cash doesn't earn anything and I refuse to pay excess interest
Keep plenty of cash availability through lines of credit- I have access to about $250k if needed at any time

No less than 3K above monthly bills in checking and 7k to 10K in savings for hard times or when you find the deal of a lifetime. Separate Savings account for Christmas 2K to 4K start it over every Jan. in my 40's

Yeah, I have a good amount in my account to cover something like that and can switch money anytime from savings to checking, but I like to limit frivolous spending.

In my pocket, with the debit card, I really only keep between $50-$100 cash on me at any given time, for small purchases or for if I happen to be somewhere where cards aren't accepted.
Checking account we keep $10K in minimum because the bank gives us a few freebies for doing so.
Cash in the house, probably around $500 in currency at any give time.
Plus our vacation money which is all the change saved by everyone through the calender year. Day after vacation ends we start saving for the next one, every day everyone drops whatever change they have into the kitty , a few days before vacation, we take it out, wrap it up and take it to the bank. Mom and dad (my wife and I that is) pitch in some 5s and 10s through the year, it usually ends up being $2500 or so each year, which is quite a chunk towards paying for family vacation, and you don't really even feel like you're putting that money back, it's just change.

30 years old. Anywhere between $0-50 cash in my wallet at any given time. $1500 in checking used for bills. Another $500 in a different checking for entertainment. $500 a month goes to savings. $100 a month goes to an ESA for when I have kids. I keep $1000 cash at home for emergency.
Wasn’t able to do this until I got a better job last year. Before that I was paycheck to paycheck.

Then I'd suggest whatever you have left over in your checking acct. come next time to put your budget money in there, take that and save it somehow. I learned that a little here and there until you reach 65 amounts to more than chicken feed if you invest it correctly.

Less than $100 in the wallet. About $1,500 at home for emergencies. $2-3,000 in checking, about $15k in emergency savings, the rest to investments. 28 years old

Yeah, funny thing is i am doing that but i usually take about $150, chump change i know, and put that in savings. Been meaning to do exactly what you just mentioned and might start doing that.
