Sure, it fluctuates, but on average since 1989, I've made 12%.

Depends on a lot of factors.. total price, interest rate, down payment, total years of loan etc.
We paid around 450$ a month for our last Tundra. If you have a general idea of your credit score you can basically set your monthly note by calculating in all of the above. Good luck!

I drive a 1995 chevy z71 and I don't give a shite what anybody thanks. This is my third one and when this one lets go......I'm gonna buy another one
And by the way I could buy a new one today and it would still be 0.00

So then why only 7% in your IRA? Look, it's a silly argument, but if your vehicle affects your retirement accounts youre doing something wrong. I think most people advocating the "borrow and invest" method are talking about non tax-advantaged accounts, having assumed the others are fully funded.
At any rate, carry on as you wish. The people who advocate taking the loans are rarely the ones with the cash in my experience.

Because I'm maxed out with the amount I put in those.
My system works for me. I'm not gonna pay cash for a $50k work truck.
You do what works for you.
Peace and beers....

I've used a truck 5 times in 3 years and it was either to move, move furniture, or haul another large item. Much easier to borrow than to spend the money on something that rarely gets used.
And if you can't borrow you can easily rent a truck from Lowes and Home Depot for a couple hours.
But who cares what you drive, drive what you like.
Just don't buy a 4x4 vehicle and get it lifted, put big wheels on it, and all kinds of off expensive off road stuff to make it look cool with no intention of ever going off road. Then that makes you look like a douche.

dont finance. if you can't pay 20k or less for a truck then ya definitely don't need to finance anything.

$0. Paid for. F150 60 yr series

There's nothing wrong with financing if you're getting a low interest rate.

if you lose your income for whatever reason, you still have to make that car payment. and you would take a 40% penalty on 401K if you had to draw early from it. I know mathematically 40 years from now you could have a bigger pile of $, but I am willing to make that sacrifice - instead of dying with $5MM I will die with $4MM, either way I won't spend all of it. while I am alive I have less to worry about.
P.S. You only get 7% on your Roth? you need to change financial advisors. I make more than that picking my own stocks.

just looking at the broad picture is all.
if you can afford to pay cash for a truck, but still get a low interest rate then nothing wrong with that. if it's what someone wants to do.

So if anybody shouldn't be financing anything, it's someone using this asinine logic.

if you have to clean out your bank account to pay cash, then of course financing would be better. IF you absolutely NEED another vehicle.
good grief.

Mine is paid off, but it was roughly $250/month. I paid it off in four years. Still only has 80,000 miles. I plan to ride it over 100,000. By then I should have a good savings so I can put down a good down payment on my next vehicle.
