Royal in the last block before canal was especially bad, yes up a few blocks into the quarter it's very clean, I believe that's where all the antique and art stores I enjoy are.

Look here Box, I'm sorry this all offended you and obviously you're very proud of your city

I also love NO and the surrounding area. I love the culture, food, people, and especially the history.

That's an interesting way of saying you've never been to a big city.

I'm not offended in the least by your ignorance. I'm simply wasting time on a slow day.

I didn't address that comment by you because it was childish, I work in houston and many other major US cities. I've seen a guy (obviously high)walking down Harrisburg with his pants around his ankles and peeing in front of himself as he was walking and in certain homeless folks pee and poop all around the overpasses by the Star of Hope mission.

There are broken souls everywhere

It doesn't change what I saw in my last business trip to NO

It's not childish. If you see more bums in NOLA than you've ever seen anywhere, you haven't been to many places.

Can anything change that which never existed?

Oh give it up. Nola isn't some far off exotic place that only you know about. Just about everyone on this site has lived there or spent a lot of time there.

The OP asked about the thugs and trash in the FQ. He didn't say the whole city was worthless or and he didn't bring up BR or Zwolle.

You sensitive Nola are exhausting. So paranoid.

is and it always will, and the reason why is in your interrogatory. Its raw and edgy, people see stuff here they dont see at home in the suburbs.

Maybe. But people want to see something different, something unique. Something "New Orleans". Thugs and homeless trash can be found anywhere. Nola has always been a rough port city. That's fine. But being inundated with the same thuggery that can easily be found in Atlanta or Houston, or homeless beggars that are also found in every major city doesn't make Nola special.

Why did you edit "now we know who the liar is" to this even worse nonsense?

I think a lot of you NOLA defenders are taking this criticism the wrong way. This isn't about BR vs. NOLA or the traditional qualities that make NOLA great. It's clearly the most important city in Louisiana, and because of that, we should all care that it puts its best foot forward. Everyone, even people outside of NOLA, should have an interest in what visitors think of the city.

The #1 place I've seen in my travels for homeless people was San Francisco. Holy cow, there are a lot of homeless just hanging out everywhere. It looked terrible. But there was a huge difference between those guys and the ones I see in New Orleans. The ones in NOLA are much more aggressive with their panhandling technique, and bug the shite out of people.

Now some may see that as part of New Orleans' charm. I'm not one of them, and I think I'm in the majority there. NOLA should cull the herd of people on the street trying to separate tourists from their dollars. It's bad for business. If you can't see it, then I suggest you may just be too used to it. It's bad, folks. We all want to see NOLA succeed. Take the criticism and do something with it.

I'm not saying it didn't happen, but it wasn't on Royal Street. Royal somehow stays immune to all the stereotypical FQ stuff people write home about.

The 100 block of Royal Street (particularly in front of the Unique Grocery) looks like the bar scene from Star Wars with all of the bums, freaks, and crooks. I agree that the rest of the street is very nice.

Either you are immature and didn't understand context

Or you were being disingenuous and lying

I chose to edit and give you the benifit of the doubt and not call you a liar

I go to NO twice a year. Spring or summer I bring wife and kids for several days and we do normal touristy stuff in FQ. Wife and I go to one Saints game every year and do our own thing. We have a blast everytime and the people couldn't be more friendly. I did get the "I bet I can tell you where you got dem shoes" last year and I just said I stole them and kept walking, he just laughed. NO has issues like most cities but we enjoy the hell out of it.

Yap

Atlanta, Dallas, Houston etc

That said, NOLA has gotten progressively worse over the past few years. It would go along way to push these people out, but we don't have the manpower

What would I call him out for? Did he say two people within a half block were peeing in broad daylight on some random day and then immediately start backtracking after being called out by several people?

Oh,that was just you.
