So why hire one in the first place?

Why didn't you FSBO?

The biggest tip you could give him is to recommend him to all family and friends.

When we sold my last house we almost lost the offer because we couldn't close on the date the girl needed and she had to renew her lease or pay a big increase for month to month. Me and my realtor split the rent for her for a month so we wouldn't lose the sale.

This has got to be a new low displaying how tipping is out of control. What’s next, tipping your insurance agent?

They tip ME.
Usually with some sort of gift at the closing. I’ve already paid them when I didn’t have to… the definition of a “tip.”

Rightfully so. We didn’t have our own realtor, but the realtor for the house we just bought gave us a beautiful decanter from a local fancy home decor store. She made more than $33k off our purchase considering she didn’t have anyone to split it with. Why would I tip for that?

Ours bought us a gift card to West Elm. We ended up getting a nice ottoman and loveseat from Rooms to Go. We were also able to take advantage of their interest free financing for 130 months!

Please pass on this tip to your Realtor:

change to fixed fee structure as 6% of $100k, $500k, $1,000k = $6k, $30k, $60k for similar levels of work is BS

And thank them by passing on your good experience word of mouth for them

If they really took care of you extremely well, highly recommend your friends and family.

A good realtor can be a life-changer -- like a good investment broker, lawyer, mechanic, doctor and dentist.

Dear Realtor, the housing market is far too hot to be posting on TD. Go buy/sell houses and let OT melodramatics determine what is/is not life changing. Thank you.

They shouldn't see a dime more than their commission.

What? You already give them a generous percentage of an enormous sum. They should at least buy you a nice houseplant.
