same. I cook dinner sometimes, but bringing lunch to work isn’t and never will be for me.

You need to learn to cook, man. I know there are time crunches sometimes with kids but you don't have to cook something elaborate every night. You'll eventually get to a point where you're pissed off eating out because you can cook better meals at home for 1/4 of the money, no risk of DUI, and not have to pack lil' crumbcatchers into the vehicle.

We might order a pizza every once in a while when things get crazy, an occasional lunch, maybe take the wife out somewhere nice every once every couple of months. That said, my kids are teenagers so they ask for money for food when they're out and about with friends, which can add up quickly.

Husband and I went to Roux 61 tonight. Hushpuppies as an app, burger and shrimp poboy, side salad, glass of house wine was around $60 after tip.

Eta: 5 tacos, rice and beans, and one drink to toast night at uno dos tacos was $25

It adds up quick

Restaurant food is generally loaded with calories and salt, the latter of which I have to monitor. We could afford to eat out more. We just like cooking at home.

Dude, we live out in the boonies and like to make a night of a meal out, often drinking pretty heavily, hitting bars, etc. It's an hour to downtown ATL, 25 mins to the nearest halfway decent restaurant, and Uber/Lyft are not prevalent in our area. We don't drive drunk. Like Fallguy, we both really enjoy cooking so staying in is actually something we both enjoy doing if it's just the two of us.

We don't have anywhere to eat where I live for most of the year. There is a snack shack open from June-Sept with hamburgers, milkshakes, and grilled cheese sandwiches. I might spend $30 a month during those months.

That being said we do potluck with friends fairly often.

How many people are you feeding? I ask because your numbers translate to about $200-$300 per meal.

I pay for 3-5 business lunches per week and 2-3 business dinners a month. The only time I have a bill of $300+ is when entertaining a top level client and that’s not every month. I might have 2-3 of those a year.

As for the OP’s question, I spend roughly $500-$600 a month normally for business and maybe $100-$200 personal.

Maybe $150 a month, tops. I bring my lunches and I'll have dinner out a few times a month at cheap bastard places.

It’s not worth 25.00 imo

I have been cooking more at home
I almost think it’s more expensive to buy groceries for 1 person than it is to grab something to go

Which is what you would pay for 2 people at a nice place. Apps, 2 entrees, plus wine and/or cocktails is easily $100+ a person.

My go-to lunch place with customers is Nikki’s West although I frequent a lot of places, depending on what part of the state I’m in on a given day. Most lunches are myself and one other. A few weeks ago one customer did show up with himself and six guys though. That lunch was at a place called Cedar House and the bill was like $120 with tip.

A dinner for an larger customer is usually Ruth’s Chris or Flemmings and averages roughly a little over $100 per person. The largest bill I’ve had to pick up was $800 and some change. That is the exception though. The average business dinner though is around maybe $50-$75.
