is this where you enlighten us on how you stay at a nice place, on the beach, in the summer, for significantly less?

We usually average around 10k per trip. I’m planning a ski trip for next year and it’s going to be significantly more. Value memories above all else.

Family of 4

We're staying at Turquoise Place for $2800 in late July. I'm sure that's not nice enough for you and the silver spoon up your arse

VRBO is littered with beachfront 30A properties for less than $3k for an entire week in summer. And I'm sure none of those will be good enough too.

I thought you were talking about you and your wife and small child going to the beach for $10k-$15k

We usually just do a 3-4 night trip, and I'm good with that.

This is what we have started doing (Thursday-Sunday). Drive to somewhere within 6-8 hours.

Spend about $1,000-$1,200 on lodging. Then it just depends on where we go for how much else we spend (family of 4).

On a beach trip, those costs are generally lower because we will only eat out once a day and don't really need to do much else other than go out on the beach.

This summer, we plan to take a trip to Georgia and stop in Atlanta for the aquarium and maybe a Braves game, so will have to pay for those.

no offense to the OT, but going to the beach for 3 days isn't our family vacation

and you won't spend another $1,200+ on fuel, food, drinks, activities? sounds like you're spending pretty close to 5k for a beach trip.

We are going to Vail and just the two bedroom condo is almost 10k for 7 nights. Four lift tickets for 5 days, rentals, food, alcohol, flight, etc. I might double that

Not even close. I go to the beach to go to the beach. I cook most food because my food is better than overpriced long wait time beach restaurants, and cooking is relaxing to me.

ETA: Also, nice math skills

Dont you live in Shreveport?

I'd assume anything an hour outside of the city limits is a vacation for you

We are hoping we can swing a few nights in Natchitoches this year, but with gas prices, we aren't sure.

Agreed, but we live at the beach so it’s not really something we are interested in doing on vacation

$5k for standard trip, $7,500 for something unique with flights, and $10K for disney/snow ski type trip.

so you'll spend 3.5k to go to the beach in Alabama but 5k is excessive. got it.

that was intentional. i assumed that 4k would be close enough to 5k.

20k per year, usually split up over 3 trips.
