Rarely keep more than $20 bucks cash on me these days...

My reply was to you misinformed comment. To that, I will only state that I have been in-house legal at two different banks and attended multiple CLE seminars put on by the Louisiana Bankers Association specifically for in-house counsel. Electronic transactions are not fool-proof. They are good but there is always someone hacker hidden in a closet trying to steal electronic information. This a constant issue that banks have to deal with and they usually deal with it without a hitch, but it is usually based on knowledge they have learned after someone has taken a loss.
Digital data is always at risk and you never know who is trying to get that information. Reports of the issues someone goes through trying to clear up identity theft should be enough of a red-flag for any reasonable person to exercise caution with electronic transactions and digital data.
As I stated in my original post, I do use debit cards and credit cards and I’m not trying to say that they are inherently unsafe. If I thought that then I would never use them. My original post also warned against complete reliance on the bank to reconcile your electronic transactions. People need to be much more careful whether they use cash, credit or debit.
I prefer cash because I can see it, feel it and control it. I understand that the convenience of electronic transactions has now put me in the minority position. It is just my opinion, but it is not misinformed.

$250-$300.
Reason, I'm old and my card stops pumping fuel at $75. Takes a bill to fill it.

All you did was list inherent risk of electronic transactions. You didn't explain how cash was more secure despite all of the evidence of lower theft and fraud.

45 cash.
3 personal credit cards (different rewards per card)
4 business credit cards (same situation)

If you like to use cash, that's fine, but if you think it's a safer option, you're incorrect. That's fine though.

$50. Gonna put it in my gun safe. I try to keep a little stash

I now receive a paper check in the mail as opposed to direct deposit as I used to get. My employer had its dd wire transfer hijacked a while back and lost almost $70K. They were able to claw back some of it but decided to no longer offer dd.
ETA: I didn’t answer the OP. I’m a relic from the past and usually have about a grand on my person and keep another couple of thousand stashed around the house.

Where did I say that cash was safer? All I said was there was more inherent risk of loss electronically than ME losing my wallet. If someone is careless with cash or doesn’t pay attention during transactions, then I’m sure the risk of losing cash is greater for them.
If you thought I was going present evidence one way or the other on a Friday afternoon at quitting time, then you severely overestimated the importance of this thread! It’s time for a cold beverage purchased with cash or debit card . . . your choice

I highly doubt that, statistically you are more than likely incorrect.

Well I’ve never lost my wallet, but I did have a credit card company call me about plane tickets to Nigeria that were purchased with my credit card. I was glad they caught it, but it still took a couple of weeks to unravel the mess and I had to get a new credit card.
I’m not a statistics guy, but I’m sticking with cash.
