You must not want access to your liquid.
...or not have any

The point of a credit card is to use it and keep it paid off....

Couple of hundred and usually have at least a thousand stashed at my house. You never know what will happen you cannot depend on that debit card always working. Anyone that doesn't carry some cash and uses nothing but a card is a moron.

There is no sense in hoarding cash, but I do agree that you should be able to put your hands on some cash in emergencies. FWIW, you would think that we would have learned this lesson during Katrina....once power goes out for just a little while, credit cards and ATMs are no longer useful.

Don’t carry cash unless it’s for a special event.

Between $0 and $500.

If traveling I always like to have $1000 or so because my credick union is trigger happy with the freeze account due to out of state transactions button. And I forget to tell them in advance half the time.

For the hookers and blow crowd, I have found most take Venmo these days so that cuts down on the atm runs.

Anyone keep a $10k brick or more hidden somewhere besides a bank and your house?

I was thinking it would be nice to have a stash somewhere in case of emergency.

A safety deposit box seems risky because what if you miss a payment or banks are closed or you need something without cameras.

Burying it seems risky because of decay or someone else finding it.

Your car is risky because it could be broken into.

Any ideas on where to stash $10k - $100k for a long term (2-50 years) emergency?

Just went and re-upped at the ATM. Sixty bucks. Should last around two months.

Typically $6-$8. A fiver and a random single or two. are we counting change? Probably another $0.50 then

I do keep a twenty in the center counsel of my car for some random gas/credit card emergency that’s never happened

You kids are doing it all wrong. You need to be able to buy, play or avoid anything at all times. These are cash required issues.

This thread comes up about three times a year.

But usually between $100 -$200, mostly 20s and whatever small bills I got back from the last time I broke one of those 20s.

I rarely carry bills larger than a 20; they’re a pain in the arse to break and lots of places don’t even take 100s. Cash is for things like tipping valet drivers and buying lemonade from kids.
