How much can general health do to prevent cancer?

I started pondering this today because a player from the Texans came back from cancer treatments. Him and Eric Berry and a few college guys are the only football players that I can think of that have had cancer during their playing careers. Same for the other sports, you don't see many guys it seems get cancer.
So that got me to thinking, how much of just being generally healthy help prevent cancer? I do think a lot of the shite the average american puts in their body has at least some to do with it.
Would be an interesting study were we able to quantify the findings somehow

Im sure you’re the first person to think of this. You should contact some scientists.

Cancer is a rarity in the twenties and thirties.

That's a good point. Looks like only about 4% of cancer patients are 35 or younger.

It’s 99% genetics

I don't agree with this at all. Genetics is probably a big part of it, but how you treat your body is also very important.

one fundamental truth is that cancer does not function in an alkeline environment (from what I understand). But being too alkeline is just as bad as being too acidic

As someone going through radiation right now for a brain tumor, I have thought a lot about this. The American diet is definitely something to examine. I also will say, I can’t imagine a professional Athlete fighting any cancer and keeping up any physical presence. Basic energy is a challenge.

Immune systems are stronger and can fight it off at younger ages.
Way back in the day everyone got the proper nutrition from fruits and vegetables.
Also people didn’t get vaccinated like they do now. Nobody knows what is in the vaccines.

Just my uninformed thoughts, but I think it is largely genetic. I think exposure to cancer-causing agents (i.e. smoking, asbestos, HPV infection, etc.) can bump that likelihood pretty substantially if the exposure is heavy. I don't think the general state of your health is much of a factor.

Yes people used to be so much healthier so much so that the median age has doubled over the last century

Mostly due to infant mortality rates. People really aren't living all that much longer.

1. We need to stop thinking of cancer as a disease. It is a group of diseases that affect different organs and have different etiologies and courses.
2. All cancer is genetic. But not all cancer is hereditary. That is to say, every cancer is the result of the genetics of a single cell becoming corrupted and not turning off the reproduction cycle. This happens all the time in everyone’s body. What makes one of these cells turn into cancer is that the cell has a mutation which “hides” it from the immune system, allowing the reproduction to go unchecked. Some of the cellular reproduction happens quickly and the tumors grown very fast. Sometimes it is is slow and the tumors hardly grow at all.
3. Hereditary cancers are real. However most cancer is the result of hereditary predispositions interacting with some environmental factor to trigger the start of the tumor growth.
4. Some cancers (especially colo-rectal cancers) are almost all preventable through a healthy lifestyle. Diet and exercise are the most important factors for the growth of colon cancer. There can be some hereditary causes but with a healthy diet and moderate exercise, most people who get colon cancer would not have gotten it. Not everyone. There are some people who are very healthy who end up with cancer. This is more often the case with people who get cancer at a young age. Those cancers are likely to develop independently of overall health status.
TLDR: cancer is both genetic and environmental (including yournoverall health). You can’t do anything about the genetics you inherited (not yet anyway-give medicine 5 or 10 years and that may have changed) so the best thing you can do to minimize your risk of getting cancer is to live a healthy lifestyle.
