Wife pays $177 per month for her and the kids. I pay $80 per month for me. Both have excellent insurance.

Roughly $100 a month for health, dental, and vision. $4500 deductible (ouch), but they give me $750 a year in my HSA.

$85 a month for silver level membership.

$40 a year plus ~$25 a quarter for Brothers Keeper (excess coverage beyond the Silver membership cap)

Not required but I send roughly $25 a month to the Prayer Page (people with pre existing conditions who haven't been enrolled at Gold level plus Brothers Keeper for three years).

This is a sharing ministry, not traditional insurance. I was paying $98 a month with Humana before Ogump decided my body was his choice.

ETA: $1000 deductible, and if I negotiate a lower fee it counts toward the deductible.

Neither. I fact checked Cassidy when he said he had a couple in his district with a far worse plan than that and I was able to find plans in the same premium/deductible range he quoted.

I see what happened to you, Sir. You went straight to a local broker who claims to search for your best option. Brokers do this for one reason... money in their pocket, not yours. Any plan option you chose results in the premium going direct to a local agent office as part of their bottom line, which offices are incentivized on. In-force premium. The broker negotiates anywhere from an 80-100% take on the commission of the policy(s). IOW, if you pay in $19,200.00 annually for premium just for Medical/Dental/Vision, depending on commission structure the broker himself is taking in no less than 16K of that in the first year if I had to bet on it.

Medicare kicks in at 65-66. I'm 58. Grand kids have nothing to do with the cost of insurance. But every grandparent looks for reasons to brag

You aren't THAT old. I just don't understand how the hell you came to pay $30,000/year for insurance.

This is just what was offered from my employer. It was either this one or $1400 for worse benefits.

This just came up, before I was paying $1400 for a better plan than this one.

Luckily my wife just started a new job and will be eligible for insurance 1st of May. I do not know what the cost will be but I would be willing to bet that its cheaper than $1700 a month

Its really sad, Ive been here for 6 years. Started paying $600/mo for a family plan 3 years ago and it has tripled since then. Im in school working towards an industry change, hoping I can jump ship soon.
