Had some old "friends" from high school try to set up a meeting to "catch up" and discuss primerica. Pass.

But they're a VP* already so I guess they've got that going for them.

Team National and Primerica...still not really sure what either "sells" though.

Give me your # and I'll have a buddy explain it to you.

Same thing happened to me, except it was presented as my "friend" doing some sort of presentation for an insurance sales position.

He's dead to me.

I knew a few people who did the primerica BS. Luckily, that's one of the times being a huge a-hole paid off because they didn't approach me with it.

I can only think of two off the top of my head.

Primamerica (while some might defend this one, it is a MLM company which is pretty much another name for pyramid scheme)

And the other one was for some type of workout supplement. Someone I know was at a low point in his life for at least 6 months. During that time he got in contact with some guy who was pushing this shite. He asked me if I would mind coming with him to a meeting, about a product (he said the name) he is confident about (knowing the guy, the way he said that whole part, it was obvious they pushed people sell it a certain way).

These "meetings" were every few weeks and he asked me 3 or 4 times in a row if I was able to go and I just told him if he would have called me earlier or if it would have been any other day... It seems like most people who get into these things don't stay in it very long, so I figured I would just feed him a line of BS until he got out of it, which is exactly what happened. He got a job and that was it.

How a work friend invest heavily in the worm business. Even bought a large warehouse and had a huge number of bins for the worms.

I had been warned this comes up about every 20 years, so I didn't even think about it. The people at the top of this pyramid made money....she was right below them, and lost quite a bit.

I remember a cousin of mine pitching Amway to my folks back in the early 90’s.

Had an aunt & uncle that was in Amway for awhile. Their kids, my cousins, were my age and we were close.. We were always at one another's house, etc. At one point, just about every product they used was Amway. I just remember them always having Amway chips (potato chips. They would buy a box with different types, which were pretty knock off ruffles, fritos, doritos, etc).

The chips were not good and everything they had that was "Amway" just seemed to be a poor man's version of another brand. This was in the 90s as well, not sure if they have improved on their quality of products or what.. But they went through the phase like a lot of people. Get really into it for awhile then all of a sudden wash their hands of it.

I got suckered into Amway when I was young and dumb in the mid 90s. I had heard the jokes about it but had no clue what it was. Lasted til I went to the "pep rally". Those folks were nutty.

Was approached about those micro fiber towels and something called Heritage International, I think. They sold rings, but the monthly deal you had to keep purchasing was some liquid vitamin drink.

And legally speaking, most network marketing isn't a pyramid scheme. As long as there is "potential" for someone to make more money than the person above them, then it isn't a pyramid scheme. At least according to the US gov't.

IHI (international heritage inc). Was big in lake Charles back in the 90’s

The “team” (not team national, but a downline of Orrin Woodward doing amway/quixstar). He later brought his “team” to Monavie, before starting his own MLM, Life. Notice the common words used to name his clan, to avoid bad online reviews.

That’s about it IRL. On Facebook, probably every essential oil and diet product around.

Never joined any. Figured the internet would have killed MLM’s, but it didn’t.
