How many people do you know worse off than their previous generation?

Most of my friends seem to be on good tracks and have so far lived a better life than their parents did at their age including myself. There are things I can do better and I’m working towards that. Mainly saving and investing more. I think I’m pretty good for my age group but still I think I can do better. Another thread on here talking about how America has a poor economic index had me thinking how many people I know who are first generation wealth. A lot. Almost everyone I know who’s well off made their money themselves and was able to give their kids opportunities they didn’t have.
I know very few people who aren’t better off now than their parents were at their age. I have one friend who struggles with some depression/bipolar issues but is finally starting to get it under control and is working his way through school where 5-7 year ago he kept bombing out. But again this can be more attributed to him suffering mentally and that getting in his way rather than the opportunity to succeed not being there were he to be perfectly healthy.
How many people do you know who have it worse off now than their parents did? And why do you think that is?

Quite a few, but it is entirely their own fault.

My parents were definitely further along than I am at my age but I don't know if they were better off. They owned a home and had 2 kids by my age. I still rent a house and just got married. Hoping to buy in the next year but houses are much more expensive now than when my parents first bought. Like I'll probably pay around $400,000, my parent didn't break $125,000 on their first home. So I guess it depends on what you think better off is
ETA: I feel like this is most of my friend group too. Either just bought their first home or looking to buy in the next couple years and no kids.

Only one person comes to mind but he is in his early 20s and still finding his place in the world. His dad is an engineer for Exxon and has been on that job for 20+ years with some excellent benefits. I talk with him pretty regularly and he wants to become a cloud engineer so I give him advice on how to get to that point.

Because I’m 26 so most of my friends are friends where I also know their parents Personally. Plus they talk about their parents.

I say this all the time. For those that haven't made awful decisions, they are typically significantly better off than previous generation. I've got one friend doing great whose first kid just left for college and recently expressed his much less opportunity our kids' generation will have. I just can't understand where he's coming from with that.
Sadly among our siblings it's 50/50. Vast step up from parents' situation or abject failure induced by terrible choices, addiction, mental health, and laziness. No in between.
