I think it is obvious. Once the Boomer and early Gen Xers die off, democrats/socialists will have a stranglehold on this country - via the ballot box. I'll be dead, but hate it for my kids and future generations.

A major river is less than a tenth of a mile from our house. We have over a hundred acres of wood. Deer and turkey and (heaven help us) woodchucks are plentiful. there are only two roads into our area, both have defensible road cuts.
Our neighbors are good people and that's the one non-negotiable variable.

It won't come to this in my lifetime, but if times ever get some bad that deer is major source of food for people, whitetails would be extinct in a couple of years. This was long before my time, but prior to WW2 whitetails were hunted almost to extinction in much of MS. That was before high powered rifles, scopes, etc., and the country was much more wooded. My dad was born in 28, he said that growing up it was so uncommon to see a deer track that it was big news in the community.

I have been into backcountry camping for many years with plans to attempt a PCT thru hike later in life.

I enjoy getting outdoors and also like watching survivorman. I guess I’m guilty.

I realized I didn’t need to do either because I can hand load ammo and make beer. I don’t have any guns buried in PVC anywhere, they were lost in the boating accident of yesteryear.

Make yourself useful in any way you can. extreme survivalists that don’t already live in the woods are weirdly obsessed. Stockpile rations but then do nothing about flood mitigation for their property , usually. It’s better than having a $300 a month Starbucks habit I guess.

I dont know brother, i dont wanna sound alarmist or anything , but people are already starting to get desperate .. maybe not as much in whatever S Louisiana bubble you might live in, but all over the US mortgage defaults , car repossessions , layoffs, folks living in their cars and maxing out credit cards.. i try to see the big picture, not just what is immediately around me- and imo it’s not looking good, and i think it might all start looking even worse a lot quicker than most think .

I get why people prep. Look at how fragile things got during covid when supply chains cracked. Doesn’t have to be end-of-world thinking, just makes sense to be prepared for short-term disruptions

Just a guess, but mouth breathing leeches wiped out the toilet paper aisle for a head cold.... I have some stuff stocked for when you low IQ types get scared and make a run on the grocery stores.

You're retarded to not have a small stockpile of supplies in today's volatile fear based society.

And what makes you a “patriot”?

You're building a straw man just to put said straw man down for what it's worth. It's a lazy, feel good intellectual argument methodology, and deep down you know it.

I don't own a bunker and I don't own a moat, but I am kind of going down the path you are describing. I have picked up hobbies (gun competitions, working out, lock Picking, driving 4x4 off-road, ect) because I believe, as a man, my job is to be able to buy my family two weeks regardless of the disaster or situation. I have my ups and downs, but at the end of the day, I want to be a good man that is capable of short bursts of controlled violence if needed, and can eventually keep my family alive "off the grid" if needed. I hope all of this stuff stays hobbies, and I never have to use anything that I've learned, been taught, or worked on for anything but hobby purposes. To me, it's like my edc or home defense plan, I pray I never have to use it, but would rather be prepared if needed, as that in itself builds a form of self competence.
