I'd say I do....but I never knew it was my dream job until I just kind of fell into it one day. I didn't go to school for it, I'm my own boss, I make really good money, and I work about 2-3 days a week.
The only issue I have with mine is that I figure I have 5-10 really good years left before technology and saturation start to make a negative impact, thereby making the job not so much my dream job when that happens.
Was Snowman your hero growing up?

I think mine is steadily evolving into my dream job. Money is getting better, I'm gaining more autonomy, and I have loads of off time.

You mean besides talk bull shite on the internet? We're only a couple pages in and already we have a few guys that are retired in their late 40's.
Retired in 40's is probably .000001 of the population and 3 out of 20 posters in this thread are in that category.
Sorry your life sucks and some of us actually had a plan. I work in govt, and can retire after 25 years (when i am 50yrs old) Eveything i own will be paid for by then. And have money put back. Retirement isnt hard to do in mid 40s-50s if you were smart about your life and how you managed your money.

I never had a dream job. I just wanted to be truly happy , prosperous and energized in my work. I did not achieve that until I was in my early 40s. It turns out I was not really meant to be an employee or have anybody looking over my shoulder, I just don't have the temperament for that.

I'm pretty damn close to my dream job. A few tweaks here and I'd go from smiling everyday to whistling zippity-do-dah out of my arse.
I'm wrestling with the idea of leaving for more $ long term, but life is good and hard to leave.

ps - and by retirement I mean actual retirement (having enough money to never work again). For example, there are lots of "retired" military who receive a pension but they have nowhere near enough money to never work again.

How does one go about getting this kind of job at the NPS? What degree? Also, you mentioned being seasonal until you're permanent. How many seasons do you need to put in before you're offer a permanent role?

You haven't realized yet that everyone on the OT is 6'2", 5% body fat, has a smoking hot wife with perfect tits, retires at 45, never eats at chain restaurants, wears $200 shoes and never wears a suit that costs less than $500?

I don't particularly care for my job, but like my bosses and the people I work and I really like my company. Also, my job is not too ball-busting or mentally taxing so I have time and energy to work on other things I want to work on.
Maybe one day I'll have my dream job. Until then, I have a job and some dreams.

I worked my dream job for 70 years - Cashier at Mcdonalds. Just retired at the age of 12.

I dream while working at my job, does that count?

I've got a BSFR in Natural Resources from UGA. It takes around 10 seasons to become permanent.

After college I worked a couple of office jobs. Sat behind a computer all day was miserable and surrounded by equally unhappy people.
One day I just said frick this and went to school to become a pilot.
