I do. Moved away. Spent time in Florida, Georgia, and even Alaska. Joined the army and spent time in Germany, Middle East, and finally Kentucky. When all was said and done I came home and settled down right here within 7 miles of the house I grew up in. And I've never regretted it for a moment.

not to hijack but is there a stigma attached to never having left your hometown?

Unless nothing is good about your hometown (poor education, lack of jobs, high crime rate, decrepit infastructure) I don't think so? Like I said, I got the itch in my 40's, but I'm glad I kept my feet on the ground and stayed here.

Live about 100 miles from where I grew up. Only see myself moving further away in the future.

Guess it depends on where your hometown is

658 miles away. Close enough to go twice a year to see the parents. Far enough away where I have a built in excuse to miss everything. Perfect.

Well when you do that much traveling I don't think it's a bad thing.

What about you? Any of you live in your hometown? Have you been there your entire life or have you moved off, missed it, and made the trek back?

No, moved when I was 18 and don't intend to move back. I like to just go visit, maybe I'll move back when I retire.

I like to travel, but I enjoy living around South Louisiana. I cannot really imagine me setting down any roots outside of the 10/12/us 90 corridor

I live in Nashville in the same neighborhood I grew up in. Left the state for a decade, but came back.

Family business brought me back home after about 6 years of college and some entry work. Gotta stay for the job.

I live about 90 miles away from Waco (From China Spring, other side of Lake Waco) and I don't make it back all that often. Pretty much just for the holidays and what not.

Don't have a problem with it, just a hassle to drive there.

My sister and her husband live literally 5 miles from my parents in my hometown and I don't know how the frick they don't get tired of one another.

Still live about 500 feet from my childhood house. Left for about 10 years.....went 6 miles away.

I may consider moving away when I retire to be nearer my daughter since I'm pretty sure she's not coming back to La. after college.

300 miles from hometown (parents/in-laws/siblings). Only reason I remotely miss it is it'd be nice to have babysitters for the little ones. Other than that it's a small town in Georgia with terrible career advancement, and dwindling economy. Wife and I are honestly torn where to "settle" before kids reach school age.. Any advice out there? Thanks.
