I have done that in the past but this Xmas I didn’t use any credit cards. Need to buy a house in 18 months

No debt saved throughout year but I did go over budget

No kids or wife. Siblings and I don’t get each other gifts. I just buy for parents and nephews. Don’t take much of a hit each year

We use our credit card points to pay for Christmas. Probably not the most efficient way to do it, but we always run a regular monthly budget for December.

Nope. Wife and I spent in total about $100 on each other’s gifts.
Kids got a little more than that. It is what it is.
Everything went on the credit card because we aren’t dumb enough to miss out on travel reward points

I’m getting the sense that your financial boastfulness is probably a trade off for obesity.

I’m 22. I’m sure I’ll get there eventually. No interest in the slightest for at least ten years though.

I didn’t go into debt. I just stretched my 9 year truck note to 12 years. At 8.5% interest, I feel like I’m stealing.

We have never gone into debt for Christmas. Christmas doesn't come from a store. Christmas, it seems, means a little bit more.

I just let Santa play Santa. He always comes through.

No we don’t go into debt
Is this a thing?
I’m confused. If you don’t have the money to pay for something then how can you buy it?
Do some of you people think credit cards isn’t real money?

Despite what I try to do each year, I always overspend. Used to be easy, but the list keeps growing with new spouses & grandkids. Never thought I would succumb to online shopping, but it is just to easy compared to walking the stores. But really much easier to overspend online. So be it, it’s Christmas.

We feel the same way about you not having kids.

Wife and I probably spent about 200 dollars total on our kids. They get so much shite from both sets of grandparents that we just get each one or two things we know they want and let everybody else play Santa Claus
Once they get a bit older I’m sure that plan will have to change but for now I refuse to buy presents that will be in a pile in a month.

It really is ridiculous. Grandparents get them so much that will never be played with again after the first few days. My parents and in laws are great but we have made comments that the Christmas gifts are a little too much.
I always try to get them one big gift that they will use for years - typically an outside toy/thing.

I don't understand people saying they paid cash and not putting Christmas gifts on a credit card and just paying it off when the balance is due

It’s quite literally free money.
