My buddy from Wisconsin and his hometown friends/family drink the shite out of some beer. More than I've seen people in Louisiana drink.
But liquor is not their thing. I've partied with them plenty and they'll have 20 beers on a night out, but if we're drinking liquor they aren't as used to that.
So my anecdotal conclusions based on these occurrences:
1. South Louisiana people can drink more liquor than any other region in our country
2. Upper Midwesterners can drink more beer than any other region in our country

Tonight I'm going to go home (live in East TN now), cook dinner, get the kids to bed, then light a fire in the fireplace, and enjoy a nice single malt scotch in front of the fire while I do a crossword puzzle.
