No doubt too many fatties out there...but that chart is dumb. im probably around 12-15% body fat(aka not ripped but still look decent) and that chart says im 10 lbs overweight

I have such a greater understanding on why college statistics courses have such large curves now.

i guess you're just weak.

edit: i guess it isn't standard but it is definitely common.

this is me pulling 405 at around 165 lbs. I wasn't jacked. Just smart about training. I used straps at this gym because the bar was slick. I can find some meet photos.

You seem awfully hostile... Which is why I hate this thread topic.

Read Dr. Jason Fung and his studies on insulin levels vs caloric intake. If your insulin levels are high, you are going to store more fat. If your leptin and ghrelin levels are high, you will be hungry all the time and eat more.

You aren't a pot of water. Calories are not all absorbed and treated the same in the body...

I don't go up that high, but I weigh less than that and I'm sure I can do it.

I agree with you. For someone who is serious about getting stronger, 405 @ 175 is not special. The thing is most people just don’t actually train the deadlift so it is rare among gym goers and people who “lift weights”.

Damn, that's even worse than the USMC height/weight chart.

true, and a lot who do don't properly train it. you get the most benefit from it when you train in the 3 to 5 rep range. heavy with good form.

One where a handful of professional athletes train. I'm not disputing that most serious lifters can DL 405, because they can. I'm disputing that a lot of people can DL 405, because they can't. Think about what you said yourself most people that "lift weights" don't do deadlift so not even most people that exercise could do it and most people don't even exercise in general.

6-2 220 definitely isn’t skinny.

I work with some mma guys and it’s funny to see random people’s reactions to their fight weight vs walking around weight. Some guys go 50 lbs overweight between fights and when random people find out their fight weight they always say “OMG where are you going to lose that from? You’re too skinny already”. All the while the guy has borderline man boobs and a mild gut. People nowadays just don’t know what a normal weight actually is.

According to the link I posted 33% of guys at 175 can dl 175. That is pretty common among lifters imo

You're probably 1 out of thousands in the general population. I guess we misunderstood each other.

How tall are you? That’s sumo. Could you pull it standard at 165?

6' 215 here not bad for a 47 year old man who's been retired for almost 6 years. I still run 5 miles 5 days a week and get plenty of swimming in on a regular basis. I don't do any lifting.

Yes. I train both but sumo is a more natural feeling movement for me

It is... Don't try to justify it. Don't buy into fat acceptance. Be better

It really is sad. Our society has become so dusional. I gained weight in college and resized I was fat so I did something about it instead of rationalizing bad behavior.
