Teach middle school and own a window cleaning bizness.
Summer time only windows 25-30 hours.
Winter time only teaching 35 hours
Spring and fall teaching plus an extra 15-20 hours with windows..50-55 hours

I work about 48 a week normally, but I've been working 55-65 the past few weeks.

I feel like the vast majority in this thread are posting either the most they've worked in a single week, or what they work during turnaround/mega project. Or they're counting every hour they aren't sleeping during business trips.
What a shitty life if these people are working 9-12 hour days, 7 days a week every week.
One of my parent's friends were bragging about their kid a while back about how he works 84 hours a week on average for an investment firm in Palo Alto. frick that noise. Said he eats all 3 meals/day at the office (as in, his assistant orders him food and he eats it as his desk, no going out to lunch or dinner with people from the office/clients) and sleeps there most nights.

So he's an adult.

Figures. That's the slogan of your worthless generation.

Depending on the type of job. Working a ton of hours definitely happens.
For medical residents, the ACGME has set a limit to where you are not supposed to work more than 80 hours a week (actually can be more than 80, but needs to average to 80 over I think a month). Before these rules it was a free for all. So now you can, depending on the residency (surgical fields tend to work more), easily work around 80 legally for 3 to 7 years (some residencies are longer than others).
Now granted this tends to involve 6 work days a week so that makes it easier to put in a large number of hours.

Anyone who works 84 hours a week needs s hotter/cooler wife. Nothing is worth being away from the ones you love that much. I mean I could see doing it for a few years to make a once in 100 year discovery in physics, but just for money...WTF do I need that much for?

I understand that there are plenty of jobs out there that demand a lot of hours. But like 80% of this thread is people saying 55+ is an down week.
