Restaurant GM for a large company...we are just doing Togo right now but my job seems safe until they shut restaurants down completely...not sure what happens then but ny company is in the too big to let fail category.

Still working and apparently the boss man is giving everybody an extra 2 week's paycheck. But its O&G so the clock is ticking. Just gonna ride it till the wheels fall off

We have been moving along slowly but know reduced head counts yet. Hopefully it won't get to that point. Clients are still executing work right now.

This thread is less celebratory than the oil and gas layoff threads.

Louisiana unemployment claims went from 1700 last week to 30000 this week.

Halliburton furloughed 3500 employees in Houston

We had a big layoff a month ago so I think we are ok for a little while, I know a few people who have been furloughed. We're sputtering along but if it doesnt start getting better instead of worse (as far as restrictions go) itll be a rough ride next week

What a fricking disaster this is. At this point it feels like we're just delaying the inevitable. We're going to quarantine everyone for 2 weeks? One month? More? Then we're going to let everyone loose and the virus is still going to spread. We'll only have managed to delay the spreading and now it's going to involve a bunch of folks who are unemployed.
I'm lucky that I have job security and a lot of flexibility - same with my wife - but passing out government checks isn't the answer because people are still going to emerge with no jobs.
I'm now 100% on board with team #HerdImmunity. Life is hard. Viruses happen. Release the kraken and let nature sort out who deserves to carry on. I obviously feel incredibly sad for any old folks, but if you're 50 or younger and 300 lbs of land whale, then you've already destroyed your body more than this virus ever could so it might be your time to go.

The actions you have adamantly pushed and called for have caused the destruction of more lives than this virus ever could.
But we’re still voting for Trump right? It's his position that this is the right course of action.

Go ahead and call out another poster who says that people should plan for normal economic bad times when markets aren’t as lucrative, but completely ignore it is government interference and obstruction of commerce that is causing this.
That's cool. That wasn't his (or many other poster's) position though. He and other didn't mince words when they said that people falling on hard times will only EVER have themselves to blame.
They should admit their ideology is shite and refrain from spewing their bullshite from here on out.
