Why don't your kids have dirt bikes yet?

Well my little girl just turned 6 last week. I still carry her up the stairs every night at bed time. My wife says I'm paranoid and overly protective with her. I don't know what she's talking about though. Our daughter is still just a little baby angel princess. If she wants to ride a motorcycle I'll sit her in front of me on my bike and ride her around our cul-de-sac.

As for my son, he's 12. He does not know it yet but we're actually shopping around for him a 4 wheeler.

It's the opposite way in my house right now, I can't wait to have a trail buddy and my wife is trying to say that won't happen to her little girl. We will see if it stays that way, could change.

I'm glad that the police in our area starting fining people for riding these on the streets. Parents wouldn't let their 10 year old take their car out for a spin in the neighborhood, but put them on a golf cart and it's fine and dandy to let them go blow through stop signs. Don't see it much anymore now that they started enforcing the rules not to drive them on the streets.

Not many things are more fun than getting wasted and driving around a golf cart.

That is one concern I have over golf carts. There are a couple of families in our sub-division that do allow really young kids to operate their golf carts and I don't think that's a good idea. Kids that young have no idea about how easy it is to flip a golf cart. I remember seeing a news report about a girl in Trussville here in Alabama that was left with brain damage due to flipping a golf cart in front of her house.

We take our 4x4 purple ngold cart to my son's hitting lessons every day. His car seat fits nicely in the back seat.

Fantastic #subtlebrag thread. Well done.

+1

I'm thinking I'm poor because half the kids in my neighborhood barely get a stolen bike much less a golf cart.

I remember being 15 and thinking it made me cool to brag about getting wasted.

Yeah I can't see how any parent in their right mind could let a kid that young just get out and about the neighborhood like that. We live in a very upscale subdivision but even with that there is no way I'd let a 10 year old child out of my yard unsupervised, much less behind the wheel of a easy to flip golf cart. And what's worse is some of these folks are actually putting lift kits on them to make them even easier to flip.

Not to rain on the parade, but a bunch of 10,11 and 12 year olds driving something like that is an accident waiting to happen. I've witnessed some and dealt with others in the ER. My kid won't be driving one with friends... You guys who have them need to put insurance on them. Yes you can get insurance on them and it isn't expensive. Something happens off your property homeowners isn't gonna help you.
Cause when not if it does happen... Some kids parents who are your "friends" will sue the shite out of you when their kid gets injured and or dies while riding your golf cart.

A boy was killed near a cousin of mine's house in Houma less than a year ago. They were on a side x side and not a golf cart if I recall correctly, but it's the same concept. I believe a young kid turned to sharply and flipped it. Ended up landing on another boy who was riding. Very sad.

Buddy of mine had his little girl in the hospital for a month or so from a golf cart accident. Damn near killed her.

The uppity community near me in Bham just imposed cart restrictions. You have to have them registered and insured. I believe they have an age limit too. Seems the under age drivers were wrecking shite (yards, mailboxes, cars, etc) due to their inability to fricking drive or overall lack of giving a shite.

At least on a bicycle they are getting some exercise.
