I'm too lazy to have a contact list. Just a bunch of recent calls/texts I scroll through until I find the right one.

I have 3, but 2 of them just died within the past couple weeks.

The other was a coworker who happens to be the very first alphabetical contact in my list. Just never deleted for some reason.

I have an uncle and one of my best friends from childhood in my contacts. Seems wrong to remove them.

Have one good friend that died a few years ago still in there.

Also still have a 200 dollar bet he lost and paid in nickels. Easy to put off hauling 100 rolls of nickels to the bank.

I can’t make myself delete my moms either. She passed a little over a year ago and stupid me didn’t back up my messages when I thought I did so when I got this new phone earlier this year I just traded my old one in because I didn’t have any use for it. I lost my text message history with her. Pisses me off till this day. Slightly bizarre/ funny story though earlier this year someone was messaging my wife through Facebook from my moms account. They were asking for help with the Facebook account. Come to find out it was an elderly couple that had got my mom’s old phone number and somehow the old man was able to get into Facebook using my moms old number. They couldn’t figure out how every time the old man would log in to Facebook using that phone number it would take him to my moms page. It took a couple hours to figure out what was going on but receiving a text from my wife with a screenshot from a Facebook message from my moms account with my wife’s name with questions marks really freaked me out for a little bit.

voicemail from my grandmother who died saved on my phone
I have one of my grandma singing me happy birthday. It's one of my treasured possessions. Luckily I have it backed up in multiple locations.

Sorry to hear that.

I've got my dad and old boss that died in 2020. Was the best I've ever worked for but just realized he was still in there

I deleted my dad’s after he died bc it hurt too bad to look at it

As others have said, several family and very close friends I can’t bring myself to delete. Seeing their names strangely feels as if I’m still connected to them in this world.

I enjoy that brings a smile to my face. Sometimes sadness too but mostly smiles.

6. My grandma I refuse to delete. And idk if I ever will. It’s been 10 years since she passed.

My cousin died in a bizarre kayaking accident almost 2 years ago and still have his.

The others, I had three extremely close friends all commit suicide within 4 months of each other last year and another die from an asthma attack. All within a year and it’s just nice to see their names every now and then. Idk why. I’m sure I’ll delete em eventually but it’s been less than a year and all 4 of them were people I considered best friends.
