I know this is not a real proposal but a april fools on the dad and he wasn't having it.
How many of y'all had that same reaction and are you happy for your daughter now?

If you raised your daughter well and she made a great choice of who to date, why should you be pissed off when a good young man respectfully asks for her hand?
tl/dr: You sound trashy

My daughters have a long way to go...but I'll let you know.

We raise our children to hopefully make good choices. But we should also understand that these are their choices, and the best way to be is to express our opinions, hear their side and to support them. If cautiously

If it was someone who had the ability and drive to give her and my potential grandkids a better life? Probably be ok with it.
Some slapdick who will bring her down? I’m doing everything in my power to make it not happen.

Andre looks a little young to have a daughter already getting married.

And, if you know anything about women and their propensity to rebel against their fathers, you should realize you'll be giving that slapdick the keys to PIIHB-town. Good luck with that.

My daughters are still in single digits so I don't have to deal with t hat for a while. I worry about them finding a good guy though.

Because maybe she didnt make a great choice on who to date. Maybe she's young and you're raising her in a rural area where getting married at 19 happens, but you've been out in the world and know there's more they need to experience. You know if she goes to college for just a year she'll understand, but in her 18 year old mind, she thinks she truly understands the world even though she's not left her town of 5,000 except for vacation.
Pretty sure my Grandoarents on my dad's side shut down an aunt's engagement due to this very thing. They eventually got married (funny they are getting divorced 40 years later), but my grandparents realized they were too young at first and said hell no, wait a few years.

I'm pretty sure that my husband would be pissed. She doesn't even turn 17 until this weekend.

Guess you could say that.
They were 21 when they got married. Dated from the age of 16. My daughter still had 4 years of school to finish. That was drilled big time into both of them. And yes, she did finish and is a DVM.

It would be up to her, not me. When my BIL asked my dad my dad told him that he needed to ask my sister that question. I'd like to think I'd be the same way.

I remember when I asked my FIL for his daughter’s hand in marriage. He gave me a confused look and said “Are you sure?”

I remember proposing to my wife years ago, our dad was really pissed off but he got over it. Roll Tide

When I proposed that question, my wife to be was with me and I asked her Mom and Dad at the same time.
Also broke the news that they were going to be grandfolks.

So you want her to be slutty. Ok.
