All my wives and daughter were and are far more intelligent than yours.
No offense
ETA: Nope, not all. The first one did Mary Kay. My bad.

Better the MLM than the BLM and getting the BBC.

It’s possible to make a lot of money, but VERY rare.
A good friend and her husband got roped into Advocare for a bit. She even quit her job to sell it “full time,” but that didn’t last. The couple that recruited them recruited a LOT of people in their area and were making over a million a year on their down line. They’re basically evangelical scammers that don’t want real jobs.
When Advocare got in trouble, these “diamond level” recruiters who relied solely on their down line for their income had to sell their house and start over financially and professionally. She’s a realtor now and I think he’s still doing some sort of other scammy job. They’ve tried selling other products but their success in Advocare was a one off.
And my friend and her husband are no longer friends with this couple. Once Advocare was taken out of the equation they realized they were just gross scammers. I kept my mouth shut when they were hanging out with them, but I was so glad when the friendship fizzled. It’s like they were in a cult with these weirdos.

What was she selling?
They don't make their money off of direct product sales.
They make their money off signing other people up to be sellers, and so on, and so on.
If you build a deep enough network, you don't have to sell anything. Other people do it for you.
Easier said than done. I've seen people dump a lot of their own money into it just trying to keep it going.

Has the MLM thing waned in recent years?
In my head it has, but I got off most social media at around the peak, so perhaps maybe that just cut out the visibility.

Mega-churches are target-rich environments for MLM schemes.

I don't even know what this is.
I am guessing these were the same MLM folks getting chicks to sell candles in the 80's and 90's. What a scam.

My sister did this with some kind of makeup. She was actually somewhat successful with it for a long time. Eventually her time got more valuable so she stopped.

This is basically how I look at people who do the mega church tithing shite. Makes no sense to me.

I’ve been leaned on hard to sell Mary Kay, Arbonne, and whatever the fk Team National was. But i had an ex in high school who told me the sordid tale of parents’ Amway experience so i was forewarned and said no to all. It’s so awkward getting the pitch. ETA i’ve also been pitched Pampered Chef.

My sister almost got drawn in to one of the women’s athletic wear MLM scams.
Hosted a few parties for one of her friends who was trying to sign her up.
Thankfully she decided against it because it seemed like too much work and her friend shared the same social circle, so no local market.

I don’t know what that is, but one of my wife’s friends started having weekly ‘parties’ a while back where she’d trap everyone into buying some ‘specialized’ makeup products.
It lasted about two weeks before everyone was ‘busy’ from the 3rd week on. I’ve never understood the concept of losing all your friends over trying to make a few bucks. It’s not even big money. Nobody has hung out with her or her husband ever since.

I lost respect for my cousin over either Arbonne or the one she was slinging before that.

We had some friends try to suck us in that Melaleuca BS... After I realize what it was, stopped associating with them.
Side note: Back in the Nineties, a buddy and I went to party held at the Pontchartrain Center, next room was an Amway event, stuck my head in and it was like watching a cult doing a ceremony.

You didn’t want to sell some shite supplements or detergent that doesn’t clean your clothes?

Woman that tried to get us involved was our old Vet, I remember her bragging about the detergent not having certain things in it that most detergents have... It was shite..
