They had a little run after Covid but they don’t make good movies like before and everytime I drive pass a movie theater, the parking lot is sparse.

They've literally run out of ideas for fresh movie plots.
Every movie is a sequel and/or some stupid and predictable sci fi movie.

Your pastime is judging the scale of movie theater parking lots?

Cinema in general just seems to be on a decline. It’s all superhero/run and gun stuff

What happened to films such as one flew over the cuckoos nest, green mile, rain man, silence of the lambs, etc?

Films that can genuinely be considered enduring achievements?

The public at large is too dumb to understand slightly above average intelligence art mediums.

Good cinemas, like Alamo Drafthouse, will survive, even with the dreck being recently released.

25th of Saving Private Ryan showing? Packed with people ordering more than coke. The edge is classics, for the most part, since newer movies are dog shite.

I’ve always wondered why someone hasn’t made a movie about Chesty Puller, but you couldn’t tell his story in a 2 hour movie.

These are good movies, but were they that profitable in theaters?

The brain dead movies are making a killing.

I feel blessed that I was around to see great movies at the theaters in that 1994-1995 era. The first time my dad took me to the movie theater was for Terminator 2 when I was 5 years old and it was awesome! It was great being a kid and seeing movies from the 80s when most of them made were before I was born and have great storylines without CGI lol. I swear it feels like every movie trailer is some Marvel movie and there is no creativity.

Go to the money talk board and start a thread about shorting AMC if you want real answers.

Now that we can equal or best a theater in both video and definitely audio the theater has lost much of its appeal for us. I think even just the fact large TV's have gotten so inexpensive adds to their demise for a lot of people.

Alamo did a showing of Full Metal Jacket years ago. Matthew Modine did a pre-viewing short, asking everyone to announce their war cry.

There were so many hard ons in the audience, you would have been at risk getting to the latrine.

They have also shown the new All Quiet on the Western Front, which was deadly quiet, etc.

Unfortunate consequence of Hollywood killing itself on a DEI sword.

What happened is leftist scum like you demanded that everything get buttfricked to serve social agendas with socialist goals.
