My commute takes less than 5 minutes, my wife's less than that. Schools weren't a problem here. Now if I worked in Jefferson or NOLA, no way I'd live near work unless I wanted to waste money on private school since public schools there is no option.

40 minutes or so in the AM because I leave around 6AM. In the afternoons its 1hr to 1:20 because of ATL traffic

I drive about 30-45 minutes to and from work every day.

20 miles driveway to parking lot. Mornings 20 min evenings 45 min.
drive time can be deceiving. i drove from chalmette to harahan. roughly 17 miles, took 1 hour. drove from gonzales to harahan, 50 miles took maybe 1 hr 10 min.

What % pay cut would you take in order to eliminate your commuting all together? I work from home and haven't had to deal with commuting into an office for over 4yrs but I've been considering a move. I think I'd be o.k. commuting up to 30 mins but I've been trying to determine what it's worth to not have to deal with all of that. If I had kids and school situations to consider that would change. In that scenario you just have to what's best for the family.

Hour and a half. No traffic though.

Not when you can afford private school

Oh, and my commute is non-existent.

You need an aircraft.

When school is in session, it takes me around 40-45 minutes to drive from Denham Springs to my office in BR. When school is out, it takes about 20 minutes or less.

12 miles
ETA:
I wouldn't live in a location where I needed to send my kids to private schools. More than likely, my values and those people in that community would not mix well.

around 30 minutes, all interstate with no traffic to speak of either way.
I live in Mandeville and commute to Slidell. No way I would move any closer.

2 minutes. It is GOAT. Last job was 45ish

15-17 minutes depending on cops and traffic.
I would not want to commute no more than 30-40 minutes a day.
Depending on how much cheaper. I could live with the extra 10 minutes

20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
The hospital I work at is in a pretty rough part of PHX so I would never want to have a shorter commute.

Is it worth living a 40-50 minute commute away from where you work and/or children go to school if it's significantly cheaper and the school has a cheap tuition?
My commute is 8-10 minutes.
Commutes over 20 minutes have a strong correlation with decreased on-the-job satisfaction, with dissatisfaction increasing as commute distance increases.
But if it's for the kids, may be worth it.
