15-25 minute job. But changing the oil on my car is extremely easy.

It has aero panels underneath I have to remove, and create a cardboard damn to stop the oil from going up on top the panel just behind the oil pan.
go to youtube and watch a video on removing those panels on your car. most have "hidden" bolts not easy to see unless you know they are there. they are usually covered in old oil and asian from the road so its a good idea to take them to car wash and blast them clean with pressure washer before you go to put them back on. most people never take the time to clean those panels off but once you do it makes future jobs a lot cleaner and less chance of those skid plates rusting out on you one day

Changed oil in my F150 last week and it took me maybe 25 minutes, and that was because I couldn’t find my 15mm socket for the plug. Changed filter and 7 quarts.

Changing your own oil is trashy

About 5 minutes.
The pan and filter are right next to each other. As the oil drains, change the filters out, plug back in, fill her up, cycle the engine, check for leaks and level. Easy peazy lemon squeezy.

What’s real trashy is that I spent the money I saved on a case of miller lite

Meh
I can usually get an oil change for $22 to $25 with a coupon or something. The oil and filter cost almost that much. My time is worth more than $5, so I finally gave up on changing my own oil 10 years ago.

Seriously who changes their own oil? There is the high probability of making a mess and then you have to dispose of it.

Well my indy is 45 minutes away and it usually takes a while for them to do it. So, I can save time. It's $90 DIY, and $120 at the shop, so that's a push. If it's difficult to get rid of oil I may rethink. Time really. An after work Friday chore is easier than missing work to get it done.
Plus, it's time for me to start wrenching on this ole girl.

During my short time in Baton Rouge I was always impressed by the number of people who maintained their own car Instead of going to a shop to fix every little thing.
But I also noticed a lot more stalled vehicles on the side of the road then every other state I’ve been in.

those are the people that dont think car maintenance is a priorty it life. not from people doing it themselves

The only one I change myself is the 6.7.
Warm it up.
Shut it down.
Connect discharge tube to Fumoto valve.
Drain oil.
R&R filter.
Refill w/ oil.
Check for leaks.
Done.
Took it a bit longer the first time when I installed the Fumoto valve (had to connect shop vac to oil filler), but it goes pretty quick now.

About 10-15 minutes. I don't have to jack my truck up so that saves time.

by law, any shop that does oil changes has to take your old oil. I’m sure there are a handful within a couple miles of your home

Autozone always takes it.
I just buy my next supplies there so no need for a special trip.

using a pella pump it takes about 15 minutes including filter.
not dealing with a drain plug saves some time for me.

I'll buy the catch pan from there...and ask them if they'll dispose of it. That was my plan. I'm in a small town and I just assumed they would.
