How long do you wait in the Doctor's office before you leave?

I typically give them about 20-25 minutes or so if it's just something routine.
I went today for an appointment at 11am for a minor issues with foreign object in my index finger that has become infected (normal redneck treatments didn't cure the problem). It's not terrible but I had some time so I decided to get it fixed.
10:50 I show up to do paperwork
11:00 I'm done with paperwork.
11:20 I go to the desk and ask them to cancel my appointment
She looked at me like I was crazy but I said I've given you 20 minutes past my appointment time and I arrived 10 minutes early. I told her I wasn't mad. She still looked really confused.
I can't be the only one that's not willing to wait for long periods to see doctors can I?

I ALWAYS schedule my dr's appts at 430pm. I know that I won't have to wait long as I know that they want to get their asses out of there at 5

The only doc I regularly go to has a 2 month waiting period. My time isn't very valuable
I'll wait as long as it takes.

Depends on what I'm there for.

That's really not that bad, IMO.
If I am at the doctor it is for good reason, so I wait until they are ready for me. I try and schedule first thing in the morning to reduce wait times.

I give them 30 minutes past my appointment time, assuming I arrive a few minutes early, before I walk out. I have done it a few times. If one doctor forces me to wait like that 2 or 3 times, I find a new doctor.
I also do my best to go as early in the morning as possible to avoid the build up. One of my doctors loves to talk with his patients about politics, finance, etc. So I know to schedule him as early in the morning as possible. If only late morning and later appointments are available, I ask for the next earliest day an early appointment is available.

As long as they fricking make me. You try taking your own catheter out one time, and you learn to get patient after that.

this.
they all do it. I paid extra for concierge service to not have to wait and had to wait 20 minutes. Fired that asswipe right then.
Best bet is first thing in the morning or right after their lunch. End of day is hit or miss.

I've never had to wait at my current doctor. I get in and out within 30 minutes, usually. It's awesome. I show up 15 minutes early and usually get in within 5 minutes.

Our pediatrician is notorious for long wait times, so I always request first appointment of the morning on whatever day is available. For my own appointments, I'd love to say that I'd just cancel and walk out, but I go to the doctor so rarely and judiciously that I'm likely there for something important. It wastes more of my time to have to reschedule.

Scruffy makes people like you wait on purpose because you normally have stupid complaints.

I always schedule the first appointment in the morning.

It depends on the type of doctor. Is this a doctor that could be delayed by emergency patients?

I never leave
You've wasted your time going up there if you leave and then have to go again

My doctor is really good about seeing people on time. He's old and only sees a few patients a day.

Cheers to you OP. More people need to do this. Dr's & Dentists are the only profession who do this. I would never make an appointment for a paying customer and make them sit in a waiting room and think it's acceptable. Maybe 5 minutes max. Even that I would feel bad about.

I've never in my life waited less than 30 minutes for any kind of doctor (MD, DDS). Last time I went in to get a refill I waited for almost an hour and I only ended up talking to him for ~3 minutes.
ETA - does this include waiting in the actual room on the table too? at BR clinic I usually wait ~20 minutes in the big room and ~20-30 in the smaller room

Until they call me. I only go to the doctor if I NEED to see a doctor. I'm not addicted to Lortab.

Now you will probably lose that finger. You showed them!
