Basically whenever I drive at night the lights flicker and dim, and the high beams cause the engine to go out too.
Tested it and the diodes are bad and its only at 13 volts running 12 off

It's gonna die on you pretty soon. Need to repair it. Chances are you will have to have it towed if you don't.

not long at all....if you enjoy the thought of waiting on the side of the road for a towtruck, just ignore it.

Get it fixed. Not worth the risk getting stranded. Can't be at work if you can't get there.
It's not a long fix, just replace it. Should be easy enough to do after work.

Unless it's something like a Ford Escape it should only take an hour or two tops with basic hand tools. The only special tool you may need is a serpentine belt removal tool but you don't need it. Just makes the job easier. Harbor freight quality tools, YouTube, and two hours and most people could get it done.

wait a little bit and you will need a battery also

I was once out of town with a dead alternator. Threw on a new battery and drove 75 miles to get home to my mechanic shop guy.

You're gonna kill your battery and it will eventually die while you drive or just not start at all

Charge your battery with a charger to top it off.
Then don't run the air conditioner or use your lights/radio.
Then pray.....

Get it fixed you poor

The only thing that you could do is install a new battery. It will definitely last a week or so but that bad alternator will ruin it if you run with it too long.

if the battery is at 12 and change volts with the engine off, it cant be too far gone yet Id imagine, the alternator still functions but its in its death.
