they also arent designed for Louisiana heat. Trust me i went 6 weeks without power after laura. leaving it closed = burnt circuit board on the stepping motor. Im sure its fine up north and I know its fine during colder months, but the so called cooling air flow doesnt work when its 90% like it is here after hurricanes.

and ftr you dont know what you are talking about. the housing is specifically designed to dampen sound. it is insulated and tends to trap heat.

Im talking the generac whole home air cooled.

Listen to this. Circuit boards and plastic components will melt and then you’re fricked. Open it up if it’s running all day.

i tested and changed more than half a dozen stepping motors after laura. All were bad because of excessive heat.

only other problem I saw after laura was someone who ran the motor for 8 days without changing the oil. he locked up the engine. Could tell because on start up it would pull astronmical amounts of current.

Read online. There is a button sequence to reset this. Also, They burn Oil. I would check the oil level every evening. I ran mine for 6 days straight and had to add oil to it daily.

There are definitely a lot of proud new owners of the Generac GP6500 in the past several days.

Our local Ace hardware had 60 on Saturday and 40 more delivered on Sunday. So, 100 new owners around these parts.

I bought 1 for my moms place. I have a whole home setup.

Home Depot is where I got mine Friday morning. My question is proper storage when not in use. Like for the winter. Drain gas or leave has and add Sta-bil or something like that?

I have a damn hard time determining where the oil level is on my Generac whole house model since the 5W 30 oil they use is so thin and clear. I know I put the dipstick in and out 20 times over the last two days, with extra light with a flash light holding it against a paper towel, and of course, there is the "DO NOT OVERFILL" stamped on the stick. Seems after 2 days the oil kind of has a slight tint to it, so easier to read? I added a little, yesterday, seemed to need some but today "looked okay."

Same, my oil is still really clean so I cannot tell where the level is and I’ve dip sticked it at least 20 times

Serious question. Are there any whole home setups that use a liquid-cooled engine? That doesn't cost your first-born's arm? Seems this would be the way to go.

Any liquid cooled setups I've seen are $10k and up.

The way I see things going, It'll pay for itself in relief from discomfort/hardship. Shitte's becoming way too common on the Gulf Coast.

My in-laws in Houston bought one after the freeze last winter. $15K after installation. Valued at firstborn's non-dominant hand FWIW.

I have a Cummins 25kw liquid cooled. Runs quiet at 1800 rpm and can go 200+ hours between oil changes. Has what appears to be a 2.4L Mitsubish 4 cyl.. I put it in with new construction and it was about 14k all in. House is efficient new construction with 3 Ac units running, pool and it’s not breaking a sweat. Don’t want to know what my gas bill will look like but it’s awesome so far!

It will be high but also worth it. The flip side to that is sweating our arse off right now and bored as hell.

Any experience with a 1902 undervoltage and a then “charger missing ac”

Have somebody that shut theirs down to cool and is getting this when attempting to start back up.

22kw Generac.

ETA - figured it out. Brush issue.

Then pony up the dough and get you one!

Be prepared to get on a waiting list though.

I have a 35kw GenaCRAP! Never need to change the oil because I burn 1.5 quarts every 12 hours!

If this is the first time it has run I would change it after 24 hours. You probably need to google it with the model # and be sure.
