How long before they find the cure for cancer?

Are we close? Will it be in the next 20 years?

Cancer is not one disease but a large number of diseases lumped under one name. For instance, vaccine for a virus known to cause cervical cancer has been greatly effective at limiting the incidence of the disease in people smart enough to believe in vaccines. Other cancers are exceedingly rare or really aggressive with little treatments despite efforts among the medical community.

Reading The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer currently. Top oncologists and researchers were saying we were 5 years away 60 years ago. We're certainly closer now than we were then, but still a ways off. I thought CRISPR-Cas9 would be the big break though we needed, but even that has shown to not be as accurate as it seemed just a few years ago.

It's like they thibk because there's a "cure" that there will be a cease of "treatment." you'll still have to undergo some sort of treatment to get cured.

Yes, because if there is anyone you can trust it is Big Pharma.
Our entire human history is littered with people dying because profits for the elite are more important.
There is a reason people still get terminally sick, we still rely on fossil fuels and a cell phone cannot last more than 1-2 years.
