How long after closing is it rude to stay at a restaurant bar or table?

Say the restaurant stops seating at 10 but they don't kick ppl out at that time

ETA: I've managed in restaurants, just asking bc I'm referring to situations when food service was over and if it was just 1 to a few people babying drinks.

Kitchen is gone. Just manager and bartender/server.

I hang out at the local Olive garden at my pleasure. They gave me a set up keys to come and go as I please.

Just don’t be the last schmuck in there.

The waitress/bartender will hand you the bill when it’s time to go.

Im guessing you are still in high school and don’t have simple shite like this figured out yet.

the servers want to leave at closing time. Anybody who stays after kitchen closes is a douchebag.

Hanging around 15-30 minutes is no big deal IMO. But, I remember it getting really contentious on here as to coming into a quick casual place or calling a pizza joint right before close. I am split on whether that is a dick move or they need to bend over backwards for customers.

When the lights come on, I try to pay my bill and leave.

If they stop seating at 10 just eat in a timely manner then leave. If they close at 10 then don't go in after 9:30 imo.

If I come in near closing time, I make it my business to head out as soon as I am done. Nothing wrong with being a little considerate of folks who are tired and ready to go.

In bars there are always people who want to stay and nurse their last drinks as long as they possibly can. I've never understood the desire to stay in a place once they've stopped serving. If they're trying to clean up, it's time to go.

This. Just give yourself enough time to be served and eat/drink before they close the doors. Why show up right at close and create a weird situation like that?

I try to avoid going into restaurants close to closing time. If the place is still full that's a bit different since all the workers will be there a while anyway.

At the bar I go to the fun doesn't officially start until the door is locked at 2:00.

Depends on if you're talking about fine dining like at Applebee's.

Yeah I managed at the restaurant I worked at. At 30 minutes to an hour I'd turn the lights up depending on how many people were at the restaurant bar. Next step is cut the music off. Last I'd say I'm going to let my bartender get out of here bc she's done cleaning up.
