I think the root cause of this is men that had mother's that didn't love them - they need to find any way possible to get the love of women because it has always been lacking in their lives. A lot of the women have severe daddy issues too, so maybe it's really a match made in heaven.

By your logic, dating is a form of prostitution. Not picking on you - friend of mine brought this up several years ago - a guy spends $100 on dinner/movie/drinks and gets laid, why can't they forego the charade, get naked, and give her the $100 ? Not gender specific, there are plenty of rich single females that want a stiff one in her, why is it illegal to accept money for something you can give away for free?

You are overthinking the issue
Wealthy men like women and sex. Attractive women like money and social prestige.
Man exchanges money and gifts for no strings sex. Woman receives money and gifts for sex.
Short term the women do great. If they are responsible enough to save money they can be financially set. If they are not then they can be broke and lose their window to marry a partner they value- but that's an issue a lot of young women already face with no strings tinder sex anyway.

There’s nothing empowering or normal about these women banging some old dude for accessories or a trip. You saw a little bit of that regret come out with the Portnoy thing (I’m not saying he did anything wrong). Degrading yourself is never a good thing.

On a real "date" there is the hope of a potential lasting relationship. Society has been built upon men and women forming lasting bonds and raising children. Everything we have in modern society is based on the fundamental bond between men and women. Somehow this has been lost in recent decades. The outright trade of fungible goods for sex or companionship cheapens the act of love and destroys much of what society was built upon. I still don't think prostitution should be illegal, but it should be frowned upon.
A lot of the problems in the AA community could be solved if the men would serve as good fathers and role models for their children. The consequences of the breakdown of the nuclear family are quite obvious.

Supposedly the average sugar baby receives around $3k a month. There's a bit of a stripper analogy there in terms of the short term financial benefits.
I agree with you that it is likely to be psychologically unhealthy for women to sleep with men in exchange for money. But at least there's a financial return- whereas a lot of women whore themselves out on tinder repeatedly with no financial return and arguably even more psychological damage
