Rather large skyline for a city of its size

I grew up in Baton Rouge in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Left in ‘89 after graduating from LSU and got a job. I don’t even know where to begin

Better, but not great. The city gives you 1 and takes 3, so we're screwed. Y'all know that though, carry on.

Walmart would be a godsend for the little town since it would be a massive improvement over the horrible grocery store. Produce is bad within a day or two of being taken home and prices are nearly double of a normal grocery store. Also the Fleet Farm is bar none the worst for that entire company.

I hate Wally World with a passion. At least the new Kwik Trip, replaced a smaller one, is essentially a small grocery store so I can get essentials like milk without a quarter mile walk to the back of the store.

Our last grocery store was pretty decent but one could tell they were hurting as the shelves had less and less stock before they closed up.

Funny thing is I remember when that grocery opened and thinking how big it was compared to the others in town. It was about a one third the size of the grocery side of WW.

When I was a growing up we had Super Valu, Piggly Wiggly and Pick and Save along with a small locally owned grocery that specialized in meats and did home delivery for the old folks.

At least we still have a locker as I refuse to get meat at WW. Their biz has gone up as a lot of other people do the same.

Well my high school is now majority minority, we can barely field a football team even though in my years we were good and it was the thing to do on friday, and the area around Lambeau is way more developed and awesome.

Far from majority minority around here, but they have had to cancel football games due to not having enough players to suit up.

Not nearly as many farm boys with the small farms being swallowed up and moms worried about concussions.

I was born in Gretna and spent the first few years of my life in Buras, but I “grew up” in Bay St. Louis. BSL was wiped off the map during Katrina, and most of the town is completely different now.

We had the Piggly Wiggly and Pick N Save too but there wasn’t enough business to carry all of them. The lone remaining grocery store does have an excellent meat department but people still travel 15-30 miles for anything other a couple of items.

Was up there for a game in August, it’s come a long way since 1992.

It’s about what you’d expect. Downtown was a ghost town when I was a kid. Much livelier now. The city finally decided if it wanted to attract more tourists, they could actually develop the shite near the water.

I always thought Baton Rouge was very comparable to CC. There’s a high minority %, reliance on industry and a port. Similar size. Cost of living is very reasonable. I explored the place a bit when I was in school. I thought about staying there, but teachers don’t get paid shite in Louisiana.
