I haven't been back there since Harvey. Has life in the city changed? Such an incredible disaster. How is the recovery going?

over all the area is recovering quite nicely. that being said

thousands are still not back in their homes, total rebuild and remodels take time and the work didnt start til Feb/march of this year

many of those in lower end apartments left the area and aren't coming back

very little MAJOR infrastructure work has been started much less completed, but these are projects that take year plus to finish and many didnt start until 6 mos after just due to the clean recovery stage was still active.

we're doing fine, thanks for asking

Sounds like it's time for another Parish/Spindletap collab, Operation Juice Drop.

More people have flood insurance now I’m sure. My neighborhoods about 80% rebuilt 20% abandoned.

Nothing really has changed much... Clean up efforts were quick and efficient. Tons of new residential/commercial construction still ongoing. However, there still are lots of families still displaced and rebuilding. You honestly would never be able to tell there was a natural disaster unless you went to some low income areas.

I would think probably not that much. He jerked off in front of a few women and was a real creep but based on some of the more recent news it appears that a lot of the women were whores.

One observation from a few weeks ago is that the section of Westheimer between Beltway 8 and Chimney Rock seems to be going down. Perhaps this was already occurring prior to Harvey and therefore unrelated, but I was surprised by the number of restaurants and businesses along that stretch that are now closed/shuttered. I believe significant Harvey flooding affected residential and commercial areas just north of that section of Westheimer, so perhaps that has brought about a spillover affect. I was also amazed at the number of homeless people who were out and about after 10pm. Quite a few storefronts had people sleeping in front of the establishments. Can't say that I recall this section of Westheimer looking this way when I moved here in the late 90s.

I rebuilt my home in Kingwood, sold it, and moved back home to Louisiana.

They tore down and rebuilt the southbound bridge of 59 over the San Jacinto alarmingly fast. As a recent NOLA transplant I was very impressed.
