I think I could pass it if you gave me a week to prepare.

From what I understand it's like the CPA exam. Hard, for sure, but the biggest thing is studying endurance.

i hand wrote every law school exam
i did not hand write the bar, however. if i'm not checking for typos or capitalization, i can easily get over 100 wpm as well
my life on the internet trained me for that moment

In SC before you can not appear in a trial, hearing or deposition you have to view a certain number and types of trials/hearings and file the forms signed by the presiding judge etc with the Supreme Court.
wow. never heard of that before

The bar exam questions are a lot easier than the questions on the regular LSU law school exams. The hard part is that you have to know 3 years of material at the same time. When I took it (100 years ago) I was surprised at how easy the questions were.
yeah i only had 2 weeks off to study and the bar bri books on just the subject were intimidating and i thought i had no shot
then i read the old exam questions and was like "oh this is easy"

AOC passed it so it can’t be that hard.
She had to take the bar exam to work in a bar?
Seriously, it's pretty tough. I passed Louisiana on first try but I employed an odd approach to the test. You can fail one of the nine tests and still pass the bar. I completely skipped the part that requires the most study prep. Didn't study for it, didn't even pick up a blue book. Went and drank a couple beers while everyone else was sitting for it.

Not anymore. Whether you pass or fail is based on aggregate score. Code based exams are double weighted. Whether you “pass or fail” an individual exam no longer matters. It’s your total points for the entire exam.

Almost as hard as the CPA, according to those who have taken both.
Material on the CPA is way harder, but being 4 test that you can retake piecemeal makes it easier IMO.

I took code 3 but didn't study for it. No idea if I passed but I used a similar strat
I only had like 2 weeks and didn't read or pay attention in law school. Code 3 was "too expensive" to study for given their testing paradigm

This far removed from law school, I don’t think I could pass it at this point with only a week of prep, and I’ve already passed the fricking thing

Each exam now has 100 base points. Code exam scores are multiplied by 1.5. Non-code exams are multiplied by 0.75. At this point, if you want to tank something intentionally, it would need to be FedJ or something like that. But even then, it makes the road more steep.
Eta: What I posted above is what I remember from a decade ago. Someone younger than me can correct the details, but the overall point still stands

I didn’t think Louisiana’s was bad but I know a lot of people who failed or conditioned.
Think of it this way. There are two different skills you need to pass - one is an ability thing and the other is just an information dump. If you possess the ability to issue spot, then that is half the battle. But that is much more of an innate ability than something that can be learned. That’s why the LSAT is important. It does a pretty good job of weeding out people who lack that ability.
Then you just have to take the time to learn the necessary case law and statutes so you can dump that information when you spot the issue.

Yeah I know it's different now. I don't know how I'd adjust. It's just a moving target because you can't confidently improve your floor (because what you focus on simply may not make the test).
Also I don't know if raising your ceiling in the subjects you're good at would be worth it either.

Hell, I took it 34 years ago. Filled up about 80 blue books taking 8 of the 9 exams.

CPA is harder.
As a licensed attorney and accountant, I disagree. The breadth of testable topics on the bar exam is what's so difficult. I never took certain courses like family law, employment law, and bankruptcy in law school, yet I faced essays on each. Most of those essays were intertwined with other subjects as well (real property, corporations, and llcs, etc.)
It just a lot of information to reasonably know at one time. I'm not implying you have to ace the essays, but you can't bomb them as well. You've got to be pretty on point when answering.
ETA: The MBE is a son of a bitch as well. What does everyone shoot for? 130/200?
