I guess you are cool with the neighbor having a beat up Trans-camaro in the driveway too. It's fully legal.
I just don't like looking at ugly shite when I drive up. If you do, enjoy.
Neighbors can paint their house pink and green. It's legal. Maybe some folks like it, but I don't, and I won't move in next to them.
If that makes me pompous, then I am.

Kenner's new no boat in driveway rule is about to take affect and plenty of people are upset.
That wasn't allowed in the Kenner hood I grew up in

Good point. The difference is that it was your decision to move into a neighborhood with protective covenants.
The things you mention about your inlaws and parents' neighbors do not bother me in the least, and I live in an HOA-controlled hood.
A city-wide ordinance such as this should at least be voted on by the citizens that are to be affected IMO. 5 assholes on the city council should not have the final say in such matters.

trashy fricking neighborhood
Lets be real. Nice neighborhoods with HOA's are for people who want the luxury of not having to deal with shitty neighbors but are to poor to afford the land required to really do so. Those on their private estates would look down their nose and call you neighborhood folk trashy

LIke I said, I Caan understand the difference in a city wide ordinance. I'm just opposing the view that it's ridiculous to this kind anyone cares about that I regards to property value. It's definitely thought about by many people.

This kind of city-wide BS is most burdensome to the people who aren't even causing the problems.
Kinda how the rich pay taxes to take care of those who dont wanna work.....you see a pattern? The poor/trashy/whatever you wanna call them cant ever take care of shite on their own, in this case it was keeping a boat clean and with a cover, so now government has to step in and help them.

No boats in the driveway, but you couldn't play in the back yard because people would hit golf balls at you

That is fine, but if they changed the HOA to allow boats in the driveway, do you honestly believe anything would change in your neighborhood
I've seen it happen. Nice areas that slowly got old, then the HOA disbanded and trash moved in. That is the definition of my first neighborhood. I lived on the edge where people kept shite up, and where people didn't (different HOAs). If that happened to where I live, there is no doubt in my mind that I would put my house up for sale before it was too late (as in get the best value I can for my house while I can).

This, south Kenner has alleys so they don't really have the same issue. North Kenner some houses have back yard access but many don't.
Old non moveable boats are already against current code, as is sitting water. There is some huge boat that hasn't seen water since I was in high school a few streets away that is the only true Eyesore I know of.
What gets me is people in Chateau and Driftwood (councilmen Reynaud, Impastato and Zahn) already have rules in their neighborhood preventing this. They are applying it to the entire city, and some of the city is never going to be high end. Lincoln manor and Susan Park will never be really nice places. Another thing, Chateau needs to fix up Vouray, Driftwood needs to fix up Martinique and Beachview needs to clean up Alabama.
Then complain about boats. The boats are not nearly as bad as those projects hidden in those neighborhoods.

what if it were just family visiting for the weekend?
I don't get the new neighborhood mentality. I went to a cousin's new house in a new Baton Rouge neighborhood, it was a long street and every house was exactly the same. Nice high end looking, but the same. I stopped and asked a guy outside "hey, you know where the Beige house is with the garage out front is?" I mean it was nuts, then none had back yard access they were so close.
I couldn't live anywhere without back yard access.

that's fine the way you describe your neighborhood but it sounds like a pain in the arse place to live for me.
I only care about my house.

Lake Seawolf is like my goal in life.
I love those planes. Got to ride in one once. Since it's a flying boat and not a plane on floats it's easier to land and take off and move around on water. But then it has wheels too.
A nice used one is like $100,000

You should come do your seaplane rating at Jack Browns. I'm in that area. If you do I'll get mine as well.
