really enjoy the drive from Navarre to Pensacola through the seashore park.

Pay the $20 and go to Opal Beach. We routinely get there around noon and there’s 10 cars. Walk straight up and set up shop. Bathrooms and covered picnic areas.

Meanwhile the public beaches will be packed without a parking spot.

That place really was the goat. Would show movies one night a week all summer. I had convinced myself I could jump from the second floor into the shallow end of the pool. Luckily my friends convinced me I was wrong.

Stayed at Navarre Beach for the first time at the end of April.

Where is the best place to find a place to stay? VRBO? Whereabouts did you stay?

Never been to Navarre, but just got back from Orange. I wouldn't call it small crowds. But we had a nice place and loved the getaway. It was a nice place to hang out for a long weekend.

One big negative for me, though. The food was VERY meh. But we only ate at like 4-5 places. Service sucked too.

Navarre Beach is horrible. You should never come here and tell everyone else you know the same. Stick with the trash in Orange Beach.

No, we didn't. I know there are a lot of other places out there we didn't get to try, and I'm sure they have some good spots. 2 that we went to were highly recommended by locals, and were meh at best.

The other 2 or 3 we just stopped at while driving down the road, spur of the moment.

What kind of fishing you done around there? Surf? Going to be spending a week near there, on the Pensacola side of the seashore in September.

Back in 96 or 97, my family and I stumbled up on a nude beach at Navarre. Jelly fish were really bad so we were focused on where we were stepping then noticed a dude smoking a cigarette butt naked, lol

Where all did you eat? I'm just curious, not doubting you because I know it can be hit or miss there.

This is a major issue for that area. I noticed last month when we were there that some retail places were using the Destin model of bringing in eastern Europe and Russians via some work visa thing for the summer. Lot's of places were understaffed.

Only “complaint” about it is that you can see natural gas rigs, but they are all several miles off of the coast.

I remember Tiki Hut (mainly a bar, but they serve food and we ate lunch, blah), the Mexican place on the main road (bad), Barefoot Island Grill (pricey and meh), and some Yo Ho Rum place on the wharf (actually, this was pretty good, appetizers and tacos and good service).

There may have been others but that's all I can think of right now.

I find it interesting that there are always a few LSU fans who bash the AL Gulf Coast. I see a lot of your brethren there every summer repping purple and gold.

The only reason I’d step foot in your state is to take a big nasty shite on the way to the real beaches in Florida.

My family has been taking a week long vacation to Navarre every July since 1985. Clean, less crowded overall much more family friendly than any other option. Not a ton of restaurants but still plenty unless you wanna eat out 3 times say for a week. There use to be a sign as you tuned in the bridge that took you to the beach that read “Navarre beach Florida’s best kept secret”

It was a VRBO. Condo right on the beach. Every room has a balcony facing the Gulf.

if you think OB is nice, you'll think you're on the French Riviera in Navarre

pretty much this... don't get me wrong, i love OB... go there every year for fall break in October, but Navarre is a little cleaner and family oriented... but then again, never had a problem in OB, so whatever...
