You have to press that every time you restart the engine.

So long as the button was convenient, it wouldn't bother me beyond the annoyance of the government requiring me to pay for a feature that I neither want nor intend to use.

There are some vehicles that don't allow you to even temporaryly disable the feature with the dashboard button. That would drive me nuts.

I think those manufacturers are rushing to add a defeat switch to their vehicles at the first opportunity. A lot of people hate this feature.

Is there a noticeable lag in the start-stop feature?

I couldn't imagine being at a stop and needing to move quickly from nil only to wait for the POS engine to get going.

Think about the environment though.

Dont the newer GMC's just drop down to 4CL when idling to help fuel economy without actually shutting the engine off?

Ram has been doing this for years. My 09 had this feature.

We can thank CAFE standards for a lot of this stuff though.

It's nothing like a cold start. It happens faster than you can move your foot from the brake to the gas.

Another feature that I'd rather not have, but I am forced to buy so that manufacturers can meet federal fuel economy regulations.

No. The only downside I've noticed was that the power steering turned off with the engine, so adjusting the wheel while stopped was a bitch

Much like the OT hatred of any CVT, I don't get the hate for this feature.

I am going to put a wind turbine on my car.

Just think, going 120 mph save gas as it is, but the added wind power will make my gas mileage negative, actually CREATING GAS!!

I'll be rich.

It's not my favorite feature but I didn't dislike it enough for it to sway me to purchase a different truck. I only turn it off when it's 100 degrees outside. Otherwise I just let it do its thing.

I would've expected a true OT baller like yourself to at least be driving an F-250.

But in all seriousness, I want to know if there's a way to disable it permanently too. shite gets annoying when the engine shuts off while I'm stopped for maybe 5 seconds while waiting for an opening to pull out into traffic.

While installing the trailer connection will disable the auto start / stop on the truck, it also disables the blind spot radar.

Using the trailer hitch electrical connection plug seems to be the way to go if manually pushing the button on a trip is too inconvenient.

On my wife’s ride if you put it in Sport mode it becomes disabled...so two birds with a twist of jeweled dial.

It’s annoying but it doesn’t take that long to get in the habit of pressing that button right after pressing the button to turn on the car. It’s second nature after a few months IMO

This is what I found. I don't even realize I'm pressing the button anymore.
