Sounds like a paranoid schizophrenic. He probably needs serious help.

Sounds like schizophrenia. If that's the case, all you can do is talk to his parents about getting him diagnosed and getting him some help.

Your friend may very well have schizophrenia. Several hallmarks are noted in your post. Of course, diagnosis requires careful psychiatric evaluation.

A very difficult disease to treat. Almost impossible to convince a patient with schizophrenia that he has a medical condition that requires therapy. Oftentimes, the patient interprets the physician’s recommendations as a sophisticated way that the physician can “spy” on the patient.

Professional help, likely medication, he wont ever go completely back and will always be out there to some degree but he can still have a relatively normal life as long as it gets taken care if

I know a couple of them and they're very resistant to treatment, never understood why. It's impossible to keep them on their meds.

I was benzos and whiskey myself. I liked to be asleep and completely useless for days on end, and I was an overachiever in it.

Go lay it on the line with his parents. I'm sure they will agree with your assessment. And this is the domain of an MD so in reality there is not much you can do if his "guardians" don't see what you see. But you pushed the button on every symptom an insane person can have from what I've seen on TV.

Unfortunately most MD’s just throw a bunch of pills at you which turn you into a zombie and when you realize this you quit taking them. Hence impossible to keep someone on their meds.

He said he was crying, talking to them through his modem (because they listen to him through the modem) asking them to stop following him and to just come and talk to him is they have questions.

This is schizophrenia? I thought that was if you had multiple personalities.

PS not named Michael
