For those of you who have successfully had your spouse sign a Pre-Nup or Post-Nop, how did that go down?

Obviously to avoid the contract being void you can't pop it on her a week before the wedding.

This is a discussion you have before a proposal.

Don’t be a wuss. Tell her if she wants this dick then she’s got to sign the paper.

We often talked about what we had accomplished to that point and how important it was to protect it. That easily led to “The Conversation. It help that we both had valuable assets to work with. If you are in a position to protect yourself then just do it. Reality runs from no one . 50/50 is fact. Good luck

True story:

First assignment out of law school for my buddy was to go to a church on wedding day with a prenup. If the bride signed, my buddy made the phone call and the groom showed. If she didn’t sign, groom stayed at the hotel.

She signed.

Unless it changed, in Louisiana you can file a separation of property and doesn’t require consent (or knowledge, actually).

You say.... “here’s an agreement and I need you to sign it. It has nothing to do with our marriage and what happens after we get married. Love you sweetie and can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together”

It's probably something you discuss at some point way before you get engaged.

Similar to not wanting children. You can't just dump that on them the week before you pop the question.

I told her I was offended and there wasn't a chance in hell I would sign. Just stand your ground, Man.

We have 2 friends that have gone through shitty divorces and a prenup would have saved them a ton of time and money.

Its weird that is has some taboo about it. Its an easy way to make a relatively clean break in case it doesnt work out. You go this way, I go this way.

And its not like one has to be put in the poor house. Finances and helping the other can be agreed upon and the prenup can be updated as time goes on.
