As someone who has made dozens of overseas flights, including 8 24+ hour flights, an upgrade here is worth it.

In the same boat. My knees take a beating in regular economy seats.
I just made platinum on Delta so I get upgraded more often these days. Even if I don't, I'm usually able to secure an exit row seat.

On a plane now from Dallas to Portland. I only fly Southwest. Front 5 rows window or ailsle as Long as you check in right at 24 hours before departure. Cannot beat it.
