Start with aikido lessons.

Do that somewhat seriously for 6 months. Go 2 or 3 times a week.
You'll be able to defend yourself and know when to fold em.

Once you learn basics you will be pitted against low level belt karate boys.

Watermelon is good right now.

No potatoes. No pasta.

No bread.

Visualize yourself at 160.
Aikido plus being in shape.

Even Mike Tyson was ko'd.

It doesn't gave to be exclusively aikido.

In fact if there are mostly karate or other hard form in same facility, that's ideal because the karate energy is what you are looking to defend.

Call around. Just did search aikido baton rouge. There are some. Exclusively aikido.

Watch karate kid 6 times. Danielson had many of the same concerns as you and he became regional Champion.

True.

And think about it. Mr. Miyagi, while getting free labor out of it, was able to teach Danielson, in a matter of weeks, to get him to the level where he was able to win regional champion.. Beating people who had likely been in karate a lot longer. And he didn't teach him directly. He made Danielson wash his car, paint his fence, restore his deck.. And through all of the skills he learn to do those task, it all translated into karate.

Shaolin Kempo Karate is what I study and practice, but now for some real.

Bro, I'm a retired military cop. I can't tell you how many bar fights I've been in in my life. Tons. And the overwhelming majority of the time the person starting such fights is not trained in anything, because people who are trained in ANY of the martial arts generally aren't bullies, and don't start fights, therefor if some idiot has started a fight with you, the overwhelming odds are that he's a bully with no formal training and if you have even the least bit of training in ANY of the self defense arts out there, you will be more advanced than him. So this "is Krav Maga a good idea" is just ridiculous.

Also, any respectable teacher is going to tell you that you need to shed AT LEAST 40 lbs before being taught any fighting techniques.

And I would think it would be hard for you to merely walk through a crowded bar..

UFC gym used to be LA Boxing and was one of the premier gyms in the area for jiu-jitsu, muay thai, boxing, and mma. Once it became UFC, they transitioned to more of a fitness center since there is a lot more money in that. But, in doing so, they lost a good amount of their previous fighters and clientele. If just getting fit is your goal, it is great. Not so much for fighting anymore.

Competitive eating is not a sport. At 5'7" 240 lbs athletic is a word that should never be used to describe you bro.

I mean if you weren't just trolling that is.
