I don't live anywhere near a toll road in SC and I can't tell you where one is in the state. Most folks here think toll roads are ideas created by Yankees to steal your money.

I’m not even an aggressive driver and tolls allow you to haul arse.
The 635 express feels like a video game when you go underneath the standard 635. I swear you could cruise at 110 in the right car. There is no traffic any time I have ever been on it and it is smooth as a humanly possible to build.
As another poster said, the growth of North Dallas is undoubtedly linked to the toll road existence.

I guess if you live far away from work, but that is a personal choice.

I use to avoid 635 like the plague until this opened up. It's everything you say and MORE.

My work drive is about 10 minutes using he DNT but would be closer to 20 otherwise with lights. No thank you.
I’ve considered moving back to Uptown but the tolls would have to be a big piece of the equation working up north. I would likely be spending close to $200-300 a month on tolls at that point.

Have you ever seen a cop on the 635 Express? I don’t even know where they could sit since there are no shoulders. It’s reminds me of the Batman scene that was filmed in a Chicago but with more space, smoother roads, and better lighting. It’s a public racetrack

I think toll road would be great and would vastly improved Louisiana's current road condition.
However, this is Louisiana, let me explain how it would go down:
Legislation would pass to allow toll roads. Instead of building new highways and tolling them, they would put a toll on current highways and promise to use that money to build new ones. That money would end up being split by other departments like education and health care. 25 years later, there would be no new highways from the tolls.

No where for them to sit and they dont issue camera tickets on the toll. You have to literally get pegged by one driving it.
The stretch of Bush (hehe) I take every M-F I know where the cops sit and what times they sit there lol.
edit: Have you every checked your toll app to see how fast you can make it to each Main Gate? I try to beat my time every so often

That is why you hire third party with no affiliations to officials within state government.

It has to be initiated by the state government. Louisiana politicians, and politicians in general, don't like not having control.

After Irma all the toll roads in Florida were free for a few weeks and it was the worst traffic we've ever had during rush hour. From now on I will gladly pay tolls and be thankful for fewer cars on the road.

Can you see it through the NTTA app? I can’t say I have ever done that!
I’m getting new tires this week so the timing is perfect.

We should pay for a loop with tolls. It's stupid that we don't have them.
Posted on 10/14/17 at 8:25 pm to lynxcat
Lol sure can.
It’s how I know they don’t issue tickets that way
If you have been on Bush I can get from the 35E Gate to the Frankford Gate (before DNT) in 3 minutes 40 seconds

We just ain't a-gonna pay no toll.
So we crashed the gate doing ninety-eight
I says "Let them truckers roll, 10-4.”

The voters of (I think) East and West Baton Rouge Parish voted down a toll road and bridge looping below the LSU Campus and closer to Gonzales. All the details had been worked out. Skip Holden was Mayor. A group in a rural area below south baton rouge effectively got the vote out to shut it down.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
