Saw the trailer yesterday. Looked good...

I read the first director walked off because it was political enough. The 2nd director who completed the film did so as an action movie. I think that's a better way to tell the story.

Although I know it was a terrible situation for those that lost loved ones, and I'm sure there were people who seriously felt an economic effect, it is true that BP's negligence ultimately brought a lot of money into the area. I know charter captains who you would think would have been hurting since they couldn't fish, but instead pulled in 500k that year renting out their boats. I know of at least one local marina that rented out all their rooms and basically made so much money that they pretty much retired and gave it to their kid.

Yes it sucked and as a person who sees themself as a conservationist when it comes to nature, I am not happy at all that it happened. But I don't know a single person who lost money, and know a good bit of people who make their livelihood down the bayou. You either worked for the cleanup effort and made it big, or you waited for your check to come in the mail. Either way, you still got paid.

Same could be said about that recent movie where the guys "beat the banks" on the day the housing market collapsed, thanks for profiting when so many lost everything

frick you Hollywood

Because you have never watched a movie based on a tragedy?

I'm pretty sure they aren't downvoting the video.

So I guess you missed Marky Mark in Lone Survivor too because of all the SEALS and Soldiers that were KIA even though it was based on Luttrell's book and he was in the movie.

They likely never converted the floats either. It was a comedy of errors, a perfect storm where 10 things went wrong.

dont be an a-hole. If you didn't think it affected fisherman and tourism, than stay in Carolina.

Please.

Glad I'm out and in real estate!

There are wayyy more entertaining stories about offshore platforms that could be made into movies. They're just doing this one because it was so mainstream.

I hope they have a part in the film about how BP underestimated South Louisiana's ability to manipulate a system for profit. They had people on Gardiere collecting BP checks

It did affect them, but those people still got paid. Trust me. Many of them got paid way more than they usually make.
