How do you break the habit of scrolling on your phone before you go to sleep?

I stayed up way too late last night scrolling because I had to know who would win between a North American Mountain Lion vs a Leopard. Most said it was a coin flip but gave the Leopard a very slight edge. But what a waste of time.
For those who have done it how did you break this scrolling habit before you go to sleep?

Just put it down and place the phone charger at a good walking distance.
That way you will not feel like getting up to look at it again.

I put on a podcast about history and usually fall asleep within the first 10 minutes

I do get up and turn the alarm off but I still go back to bed


One of my sons and my husband both scroll before bed, I’m thinking of taking their phones away

I like this idea. Put the phone away and read a minimal of 10 pages every night. That would be a lot of books for one year.

Hard lock at 8:30pm.
Deleted Facebook and X apps on my phone (only access from my MacBook) On do not disturb, call if you need me, if you text or email I will see it tomorrow.
Our daughter puts her phone in the kitchen at 9pm and uses Alexa as her alarm.
I wish I could do the same but we don't have a home line so need to be accessible in case of emergencies.
