Any fans? Haters? Who’s good to follow, besides Midwestern Doctor?

It’s kind of like an oversized message board that people post articles, opinions, pictures, and whatnot. Kind of like X with hysteria a lil toned down.

It's a platform with immensely varying degrees of quality, like any other platform. The substacks I do read/pay for I obviously value.

Not sure. I found this Lovely Narrative just scrolling through the headlines.

How crazy does it get?

As weird as you want to get. There is some great, truly legitimate journalism covering topics very lightly, if at all, covered by mainstream sources. There is also outlandish schizo shite. Joys of an open publisher.

I am impressed with the writing and some of the articles. Some of them presume the reader to be more intelligent than your average joe. Knowing the scope of disinformation from mainstream media it’s hard to not be leery of some of the expositions.

One subway sandwich is bad enough on its own. No need to stack them, it just makes it worse.

Great platform. Quite a few writers left their publications and did quite well.

Bridge Phetasy has a good one. Sasha Stone is another I read if you like politics.

I hadn’t heard of this one so as a physician myself I was curious. I enjoyed some of his content but he also makes some very dubious claims that aren’t backed by evidence, some of which go against standard of care and national society treatment guidelines. Additionally some of his links don’t actually say what he claims they do. In his sleep article he says the swine flu vaccine caused narcolepsy but included a link to the CDC website which says this was studied and found not to be true. He did convince me that permanent daylight savings time is probably less healthy than standard time (even if I personally prefer the later daylight hours). Unless you have time to check every single study he references, I would take what he says with a grain of salt.

One of those things I hear a lot about, but I'm not really sure what it is and I'm too lazy to find out.

Seems to be where a lot of laid off newspaper writers end up.

I enjoyed reading and listening to quite a few posts, agreeing with some and finding others objectionable.

What I dislike most is the emails that flooded my inbox and some refusing to honor the unsubscribe button.

I think will just maintain O-T.

I hated all those emails that popped up. This is why I rarely, if ever, give my email out. Even if it goes to a friend that friend could be an idiot who shares contacts with the likes of Snapchat, TikTok, Facebook, et al.

It's where Bari Weiss went after she was run out of the New York Times. Made a killing there before she started The Free Press.

If you're out west or in fire country, or even just interested in wildfire, The Hotshot Wakeup is a good Substack to join. His podcast is good, too, but there's a lot behind the pay wall.
