Full of fatarse southerners and midwesterners. They appear to be hydraulic. I haven't seen a chute deployed so how do these weak flaps stop such a gigantic fast moving machine

I always wonder how we end up with such shitty politicians and then I recall the average person I meet such as the OP and realize, as hard as it may be to believe, 50% of the population is dumber than he is....

The wing has to flap over 30 beats per second to slow the aircraft. Too fast to see.

There are magnets in the flaps that interact with magnets on the runway that slow the plane down

It's called friction.

Jebus, one doesn't have to be an aeronautical engineer to know it is a combination of spoilers, (wheel) brakes and thrust reversers on the engines.

You don’t remember when Maverick had Jester hot on his frickin 6 and he schooled dumbass Goose on how he had to hit the brakes? Those were flaps.

They don't slow down the airplane, exactly.

They are lift-generating surfaces (i.e. wing parts) that let the plane fly slower without falling.

The flaps cause centrifugal force and negate gravitational friction.
