This is pretty accurate. Life isn't as complicated as what the new generations make it out. I figured that out earlier in my life thankfully so I don't live a really stress filled life. Most problems that you have, you managed to bring on yourself. Stop blaming other shite, stop blaming other people and work on it and fix it. That is life and it really is that simple.
People and things aren't out to get you every day.

It's called cynicism. The older you get the more cynical you get.
I changed the world in my 20's. I'm late 50's now so y'all can change it yourself. I'm sitting on the porch with a big glass of terribly expensive single malt scotch reading all of the young punks complaints. And tomorrow's Monday and I'll get up whenever the hell I want. Enjoy punching that clock while I'm punching the clown.

Or maybe young people think the world is soo complex because things are still new to them. After you've been around awhile you realize things aren't that complex. Life's bullshite is redundant and universal truths exist for a reason. Cynical? Sure, but cynicism is a byproduct of life experiences.

We all become more cynical as we age. We lose the idealism that we had when we were young. I'm nowhere near 55 and it's already starting to happen to me.

I think it just has to do with younger generations growing up with much greater communications. For older generations, learning about issues was restricted to what your local papers, radio, and news stations were saying, unless you went out of your way to subscribe to specialty magazines and so forth. The younger generations can look up anything on the internet and are constantly bombarded from many different places on many different issues from many different angles. For better and for worse.

It was the same prior to the latest "information age".
We're cynical because we've lived through multiple generations who've said things like, "What if we just don't have war?" and "Why don't we just concentrate on helping the poor instead of making money for ourselves?" Every pie-in-the-sky optimistic generation grows up when they get a dose of reality.
We're for peace and prosperity and fairness, but we also know the reality of the world that we live in.

I will be 65 shortly. Personal responsibility to me is number 1 problem today. Get to the end and finish the job. Not tomorrow today.
